First Dress Shopping Experience

Last night I went dress shopping for the first time. I went with my mom and one of my BM's (my MOH, who is my sister just had a baby so she couldn't go) to Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. We are old family friends with the owners so I know I will be getting my dress there. I tried on about 10-15 dresses and narrowed it down to 6. They suggested I go to the Carle Place store since they have more of a selection and have more dresses in my price range. So I will probably go there in a few weeks and then they will ship all the dresses I like to one store so I can try them on all together.
I have to say, I honestly wasn't all that excited to try on dresses and I definitely didn't get 'that feeling' about any of the dresses. However it was kind of hard to tell because only one of the samples fit me correctly. Anyway, here are 5 of the 6 that are currently in the running. The 6th is a Marissa dress, which I can't find on her website, so I think it might be last season. But it is just plain satin with no beads or anything, strapless with the pick-up skirt. If I do wind up with a strapless dress I will probably have spaghetti straps added.

Hi there hall twin!

Congrats on the first dress shopping trip. Don't be too frustrated that you didn't get that feeling of 'the one' yet. The first day that I went dress shopping I got so overwhelmed that I kind of went numb and just couldn't process information anymore. I wound up going home and chilling out for a while and then I got really excited about 'the one'!

The ones you're considering are all gorgeous!

i like the first, third, and fourth one. but i like the eve of milady the best.

All of those dresses are beautiful! Victoriana seems to be very popular (I know it's Dazies dress)...I personally liked the Mary the best! You can't go wrong with any of them, but I would keep looking till you get the feeling!

i totally get the beach thing--i had the same thought while i was sweating under those gowns in the store.

I knew I liked some for certain reasons.. .but my dress wasn't the one until I went to another two places and compared everything to the one and then I was like oh ! its the one!

don't worry.. besides you have bridal salons shipping dresses for you to try on.. wow!

My favorites are the Mary, EOM and the Amalia. I think if you are having a beach wedding, perhaps the Mary would be a better choice? If you want something a little poofier then the EOM is a good choice b.c its poofy, simple, yet VERY elegant. Best of luck.

I found my probably EOM dress at Carle Place... I cried when I put it on! But I think some of the tears were over the price too... I know I loved it and my mom loved it, but I felt guilty that she was willing to go so far above our previously stated budget to get the dress. We put a deposit down, but I am still undecided.
