Do you find that your first impressions of others are accurate?

Re: First impressions
Moreso as I get older. So, for the most part, yes. However, I cannot stand it when people take a first impression and run with it, so I do keep my eyes open to see if my first impression was correct. I have a friend who will hold on to her first impression of everyone she meets and she has been way off about some people.

Re: First impressions
No. I am too forgiving. I usually think people are good and nice even though time and again it is proven that most people are severely damaged. Critical, snide and/or overly worried about what other people think of them to the point of being cruel to anyone who might threaten their 'cool quotient'.
But I still have hope!

Re: First impressions
I try to find the good in people too, even when they are beyond hope.
I've had a good run with getting first impressions correct. But there has been at least twice that I've been way off base, once I got to know them. Unfortunately, my first impression was that they were nicer than they actually turned out to be.

Usually. Occasionally, I'm off. But for the most part I'm on. I do however try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately, once I've got something in my head, it's hard for me to let it go.

Re: First impressions
Usually but I have made mistakes on a few people who turned out to be total wackos and I never expected it at first.
Otherwise, I am pretty good at judging characters after I talk to people.

Re: First impressions
I'm too nice. I know this. I look for the beauty in everyone and everything and tend to see only what I want. I get burned often because of this.
Usually I give BAD first impressions. I come off as bitchy, mean, loud, rude, full of myself but once people get to know me they know that I am really none of those things. From afar I appear a bit coarse but really I'm just a bunch of wet noodles...

I couldn't have said it better myself, Sophie!

Re: First impressions
I tend to be overly critical in my first impressions. It takes me a while to warm up to people. I think it was from being too trusting and stupidly naive in college.....
