what was your first job ever? and how old were you?
i am wishing life was so simple that i could live off the books on $6 an hour!
i worked at the bowling alley setting up for birthday parties and than serving the food and cake. i was 13 - i bowled on a league and knew the guy that ran the snack shop.

Re: first job?
in the summers in early HS my dad made me come into his factory and make catalogs and even punch the steel on the machines. It suckked majorly.
My first non-forced job was at Stern's department store. I worked in the shoe department. I HATED it cause ladies get nasty about their shoes (I had one lady throw a boot at my head).

Re: first job?
I wish it were that simple too!
My first job was at Genovese as a cashier when I was 16. Years later, when I was a struggling college student, another branch called me up asking if I needed a job because they needed a photo tech. I took it and met FH there--eventually I became a coordinator for the store and he became my assistant manager!

Re: first job?
Since babysitting doesn't 'count' -- I worked at Chase as a summer intern when I was 17.
I don't even know what I did but I came out of it able to imitate a nasaly Brooklyn accent perfectly [even though she was a LIer through and through]. Unfortunately, I forgot the one skil that I learned there.
So freaking boring.

Re: first job?
I worked at McDonalds when I was 16.
I 'dated' my manager and got a raise. My dad caught me sneaking out to go hang out with him. I hated smelling like french fries so I had to go.
My next job was at a nursing home. I began to miss the smell of french fries.

not counting babysitting
I worked at Twin Donut for $5 an hour. I was 15.
ETA: Women of the night used to come in and ask for Sprites with sugar in them and sugar donuts. That was the best.

Re: first job?
I was in 10th grade. I was either 16, or about to turn 16. I was a Page in my local library. It was actually a great job. It got boring at times but everyone who worked in the library was really nice and there were other people working there from my school. I got time and a half for working on Sundays. And, I really know my way around libraries and the Dewey Decimal system now.

Re: first job?
I always helpped my father w/his own business, but my 'real' first job would be a waitress/hostess and later bartender at Unos. I seriously think I was making more money then (cash) than I am now!
