first looks vs. down the aisle

first looks vs. down the aisle

who is doing the 'first look' photos? and who is doing the waiting till the ceremony to see each other??

I want FH to decide this because I'm really okay with either of them.

I read this article and I like this idea. But really its whatever FH wants <3

what are YOU ladies of 2014 doing??

We are waiting until the ceremony to see each other, in fact we don't plan to talk to each other the whole day until we're on the alter. Neither of us really liked the idea of a first look and since we're having a church wedding we do have a gap inbetween ceremony and reception to take all the pics we want.
If we were getting married at the reception hall I think we would have done a first look out of neccessity so we didn't miss our cocktail hour.

I'm thinking of doing the extended cocktail hour (an hour and a half) just to have the extra time. Its not too much per person extra and it would still be WELL within our budget.

I'm really leaving this up to FH because to me... that moment is really HIS moment. Does that make sense?

This. I'm getting married at the RH and am doing a first look. At first I was a little bummed because I really liked the traditional idea of walking down the aisle and having FH see me for the first time, but the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of a first look. It's more of a private moment between us and we can speak to each other and hug instead of seeing each other in front of everyone. I'm also very anxious so I'm hoping this will help with that!

I also had the option to extend cocktail hour if I really didn't want to do a first look, but the food at my RH is AMAZING and cocktail hour is my favorite part of the wedding so I didn't want to miss it! lol Plus, I didn't want to possibly feel rushed during any part of the wedding! It all goes by so fast and I want to be there for every part!

We are definitely doing a first look. Our venue has so many great spots to take pictures, and they allow us to be there for two hours before our ceremony. We definitely won't miss the opportunity to get great pictures without missing our cocktail hour!

The more I'm thinking about it the more I'd like to do it. Especially since we just came back from our venue and saw all the photo ops we could have. I really like the idea of having that private moment between him and I. Since we're getting married in December and are doing a Saturday night reception (Ceremony would be around 4pm since the sunsets at 430pm and our ceremony is only about 15 minutes. no joke) I want to be able to have the daylight. FH said he's gonna think about what he wants so we'll see!

HA Funny you should ask this!! This is the first bump in the road we came to! Mostly b/c FH didn't understand what an unveiling was! But we're most likely doing that b/c we don't want to miss our cocktail hour!!

FH and I do NOT want to miss the cocktail hour so we will definitely be doing a first reveal. We're getting married at the RH and it will be easier to get the pictures done before everything starts so we don't miss a minute of it. Plus, I can't wait to see the pics of his reaction

We're pretty traditional so we won't be seeing each other until the ceremony. We are having 2 photographers though, so we can photograph our reactions of his first look at me and my first look at him as the doors open. That was actually my FH's idea!

that was my initial idea... but I think with doing a reveal we can have that moment captured on film... and then still have time for the photos and being able to enjoy our cocktail hour.

We are not doing a reveal. We are traditionalists and want the ceremony to be the first moment. We are having a cocktail hour so it will be during that time we get to take all the photos we want at our venue.

We are having a super traditional wedding... It was so important to us that we don't see each other until the aisle. He doesnt even want to know one detail about my wedding dress! lol.

I could see how doing a first look would be super romantic and private... and I kind of wish we could have that private moment but, at the same time, this is just the way we have always dreamed it.

This! I couldn't picture it any other way.

I think that dreamy moment when the groom sees the bride at the same time as everyone else is irreplaceable (even though the first look photos are amazingly cute!) I might run an blindfolded idea past FH because if nerves are flying high I know we could both us a kiss that day :)

Also, SLCC told me we are booked for an 'hour' ceremony even though its usually a half hour, to account for a late start and to use the extra time for an extended cocktail hour and a receiving line.

We are waiting until ceremony & wont be seeing each other the day of the wedding at all until I walk down the aisle. I've always dreamed of it this way, and couldn't imagine it any other way.

We pretty much decided on doing a first look shoot. We have a beautiful location officially booked and since we're doing a saturday evening wedding (ceremony @4 cocktail and reception to immediately follow... party until 930) the sun will be setting around 430 at that time. We can do an incredible reveal session down by the maritime museum and there are so many photo ops that we have to take advantage of!

We're also right down the road from the home of one of the world's only DeLorean repair shop... so we want to get in touch with the owner to see if we can do some photos with Doc Brown and Marty McFly's car!!

I'm really excited to have that private intimate moment with my about to be husband where it's just us.. frozen in time... in a moment that will be just perfect :) :)
