First meeting with the Church

We have our first meeting with the Church tonight. I'm cool, calm, and collected but at the same time nervous. I think i just over think things naturally. Every time we go to meet with a vendor I'm always nervous like are they going to be good and do I have all my questions to ask and am I missing anything and then after the meetings I realize it's not that bad.

Anyways, I think the reason I'm nervous is because FH is Catholic and I'm not. They said we can get married still but I wonder what it entails for me. Do I have to take classes, do I have to convert. I never made communion or anything I was only christened.

I'm sure it will be fine but is there any questions I should ask?

How was it your first time when you met with the Church?

First meeting with the Church - Long Island Weddings

Don't be nervous! FH and I went to meet with a Priest and FH is Jewish. No classes (except PreCana which you do as a couple) and you definitely don't have to convert! The priest just asks you both some questions (like a little interview but nothing major - like have you been married before, etc).

The only thing I was concerned with when I went was if the Priest was willing/able to perform an interfaith ceremony at my RH, so I'm not much of a help with questions!

Good luck! :)

First meeting with the Church - Long Island Weddings

I was super nervous meeting with the priest as well. We are both catholic but I just worried about the church being available the day I wanted to get married or if everything was going to need to be changed.

They give you a packet with all the info you need so there really isn't many questions you need to ask. GOOD LUCK

First meeting with the Church - Long Island Weddings

Thanks Ladies.

It went nice and smooth. Basically went over the stuff and just have to call in August to make an appointment to meet again.

I don't think I'm going to convert as the classes have started and are almost finished. The only thing I have to do is sign a paper agreeing to bring our kids up Catholic which i have no problem with and plan on doing so.

The only thing I'm going to request and they said they can possibly make an exception is that we do a full mass with communion as it's important to FH and his family.
