Well, it was bound to happen. FH's step sister told FH's Mom that she's not coming because she and her husband don't have anyone to watch their 8 year old son.
With six month's notice, I would think you could find/pay someone to babysit your child for five and a half hours. FH is adamant about the no kids rule, because his Mom's wedding was ruined by all the kids running around and screaming during the reception. They bascally took over the whole thing and when FH and his Mom talk about her wedding day, that's the one thing that sticks out in their memory.
Welp, we are in the process of cutting down the guest list, so that's two down!

Re: First Negative Reaction to No Kids Rule
Maybe that's their first reaction and they will decide to attend. Six months is plenty of time for someone to find a baby sitter and it's not like he's an infant.....really, he could go to his friend's house for a playdate......

I agree also. 6 Months is plenty of time to find a sitter.

Re: First Negative Reaction to No Kids Rule
My wedding is mostly kids. I got used to that fact a long time ago. I think FI is just dealing with it because of me.
Yeah I'm sure she can find a babysitter, but she probably doesn't want to and is showing her not so happy feelings about the idea that her kid is not invited to her brother's wedding.
o well.

Re: First Negative Reaction to No Kids Rule
My MOH has 4 kids, none of which are invited to our wedding because I didn't want kids there. I told her this when I first got engaged (11/11) and she's already found a babysitter (getting married 10/13/13). She may be unhappy with your decision, but it's not up to her. Don't let it get to you

Re: First Negative Reaction to No Kids Rule
What is she more upset about.. the fact that you don't want her kids there or the fact that she actually can't find a sitter? I honestly think that 6 months is MORE then enough time to find someone.
I am only having a few select kids at the wedding. Unfortunately FH's friends have children while mine don't and even though it might prevent some from attending... they can get over it.

Re: First Negative Reaction to No Kids Rule
Apparently he goes everywhere with them, 'like her purse' is what FH's stepfather said. Once FH makes his mind up about something, there's no changing his mind. Even his Best Man's son, his own Godchild is banned. And I can't say I disagree with him.
At least she said she would send a gift, lol.

Re: First Negative Reaction to No Kids Rule
I went thru this while planning on e party. It caused HUGE family drama but everyone lived. They will get over it. Hopefully they will come to their senses over the next six months.
