First reveal

I will not be participating in my cocktail hour because I will be taking pictures after the ceremony. FH won't see me until I walk down the aisle. We will then be making our first entrance as husband and wife during the reception.

But it all depends on you and if you want to follow tradition. I want to eat the food served at the CH so we have already told them to have food for us and the bridal party in the bridal suites.

Were taking pictures before hand but were splitting out cocktail hour into three sections. First 15/20 were spending relaxing in the bridal suite and eating alone, then we will go up and get some hellos out of the way and then were going up to take pictures in out reception room.

That is exactly what I am going to be doing. FH and I are gettin married at Fox Hollow so we have to do pictures before hand. He wants to be present for cocktail hour and I really don't so we compromised and are gunna do just like you are!!! AHHH I can't wait 569 days

Crashing! I see it like this if you were getting married at a church you see everyone right after anyways. CH for me will be just like a receiving line. Get all the hello's out of the way so that you can enjoy the whole party. I do plan to spend some time in the suite and take pictures in the RH room.

I'm so torn then, lol because I do want to take pics ahead of time , but I really don't want my guest to see me during the CH.

Take pics ahead of time, and then during cocktail hour, maybe your hall can provide you with a room where they bring you and your FH food so that you two can be together but not have anyone else see you! My RH has a room and has offered to do that for us.

FH and will be doing a first reveal and take pics before hand. We want to enjoy the CH as much as possible, plus it will give us the chance to say hello to everyone.

but I want that moment of my entrance being the first time whoever wasnt at the church to see ne! I will say hello quickly to everyone and Dance all night! I am also going to see if i can get an extra time somehow!

This was a REALLY hard decision. It meant deciding between a daytime wedding and night because it will be too dark after the ceremony to get all the pictures I want.
We went with a nighttime wedding and first reveal. It just fits us better - i didn't want to be up at 6 doing hair lol. Also, our photographer was super helpful and assured us that it leaves way more time for pictures and that's important to us. Even if it was a day wedding, fitting in pictures in one hour is tight and I want to at SEE the cocktail hour and how it looks as well as spend some time in the bridal suite! Especially if it's a beautiful day, I want to be outside as much as possible.

I'll be attending CH with FH.. he wants to try all the food and I figure it'll be a perfect time to greet all the guests!

My FH and I are doing our ceremony and reception at the same location and it starts in the evening so we are doing the reveal before hand so we can be sure to get pictures during daylight time.

Then we plan to do a receiving line and mingle for a little bit during CH to say some hellos, take some alone pics in the reception room and then go up to the bridal suite and relax before we get called down to do our entrance at the reception.

We would never in a million years want to miss the CH. With everything that Westbury Manor offers and the fact that the Library is my FH's favorite room and the conservatory is mine, we wouldn't dream of missing the CH. (On a side note, my like-a-little-sister bridesmaid is calling our wedding 'The Clue Wedding' because of the rooms!)

Although, I'm a little bummed that it means my FH will see me before the actual ceremony (and my mom freaked out a bit when she realized!), I think it will be well worth it.

I also like the ideas mentioned here about doing some pictures in the reception room during the CH! :)

We would never in a million years want to miss the CH. Sounds like you're in the manor room? I LOVE the conservatory - it's my rain option for CH. I have the garden room and library for reception and I also LOVE all the rooms! I love that you can escape into the library and they are putting cordials in there at the end

Nope, we are actually in the Garden Room. When we first went to look at WM, Heather only showed us the Garden Room, Library, and Conservatory. I think there may have been some kind of function going on in the other rooms. She kind of sold it to us as being able to have the whole wing of the manor open to our guests. There was also some confusion as to the year of our wedding when we toured, so I am not sure if that is why she offered this or if it was bc we are having a winter wedding?? Anyway, when we went to reserve a date with her over the phone we were originally looking at March 2013, but for all of those dates the Library and Conservatory wouldn't have been available for the CH since it was being used for events going on in the Manor Room.

This was sort of a deal breaker for my FH, so she ended up finding a date in February where we could have the rooms that we wanted and it worked out great!

It may be annoying that WM has multiple events at the same time, which causes timing and location issues - but the staff is so accommodating that they make up for this in any way they can.
