First Time Bridal Expo Attendee

I'm attending my first Bridal Expo on Sunday, any advice?

Where is it?

Not much advice to give, but bring a camera in case they have sample centerpieces or anything that you would like a picture of for inspiration

Speak to all of the vendors and get as much info as possible!

I've only attended a few expos, but most of them give out free copies of bridal magazines (including The Knot magazine) so take advantage of that!

The one I'm going to is at the Uniondale Marriott on Sunday.

I was thinking of bringing my camera! Thanks

Create a seperate email for this event. They will probably ask you to sign up for their email lists & bombard you with emails and I wouldn't give them a phone # unless you are really interested in them LOL

Good luck!

It's ridiculous how crazy some of the vendors are. the last one i went to, I didn't even provide my real information to them, FH kept getting emails/phone calls anyway. it turns out they gave our information out from when he BOUGHT the tickets for me to go with a friend. boy is he sorry for that good deed haha

This might sound silly but what do you wear to a bridal showcase? I'm going to smithtown landings on sunday.

Re: First Time Bridal Expo Attendee

Here is my best best best advice to give for bridal shows/expos: (Based on all of my personal experiences)

1. wear comfortable shoes-
You're going to be doing a lot of walking in circles and standing for long periods of time, so those stilettos just won't cut it. It's not a dress to impress fashion show. You can go in jeans, a nice top, and flats.

2. don't carry a heavy bag-
You are going to accumulate so much stuff that you don't need a heavy bag to weigh you down on top of that. Many times they hand you a tote bag when you walk in the door from one of the vendors. So pack lightly when you show up.

3. DO NOT give them your regular email address-
They will bombard your phone, mail, and email with all of their advertisements and attempts to have you book with them. You don't HAVE to give out all of that information. (despite what they tell you) Go prepared with a separate wedding email account that they can use to contact you.

4. Be prepared to write... A LOT-
They will ask you for every form of contact for you so be prepared to write a lot. If you want to save time, you can print out address labels with all of the contact information you WANT them to have and then just peel and stick as you go and please

5. breathe-
Bridal shows and expos can be very overwhelming whether it's your first time or your 7th. Take some time to breathe and enjoy yourself. People will throw themselves out to get you to stop by their table and give them a few minutes of their speech. Hear them out, but don't feel obligated to go any further than that. Bring a list of types or specific vendors you would like to focus on. (i.e., Tonight I want to look at DJs and DOCs OR Tonight I want to look at x DJ y DJ z DJ, etc.) It will help narrow down and you can do this for every bridal show you attend and by the end you will have each of the vendors you need. (There are so many of long island and almost every vendor attends close to all of them, so no worries!)

HTH! and Good Luck! I'll probably be attending the one on Sunday myself!

I have heard of girls making labels with all of their info.. (name, contact info, wedding date, etc) and instead of having to write the same info over and over you can just stick your label on their page. Also, bring a bag just in case. You will be bringing home lots of stuff. Most likely they will provide a bag for you but I went to a small expo the other night and they gave no bags.

make contact info lables it will save you time at each vendor!!! And vendors love prepared brides, one of my vendors gave me 10% off for my lables. Just put your name, FH name, your email, wedding date and address. I would leave off telephone #'s since some vendors will call your house non stop even after you tell them you have booked a vendor. GL and have fun!

Ye! I just use my personal address labels and write in the date or whatever else they ask. It def makes my life easier!
