First Topping Question: Did you like it?

First Topping Question: Did you like it?

Since I suggested it, I want to get an idea if you liked it or not. I know some people must hate it!

I loved the suspenseful style the author wrote with; doing a standard murder story with a whole new subject matter as the background; the very shocking (and thus unusual and disturbing) ending. But the actual crux of the story was weak - for an author with originality, i think she relied to heavily on the S&M classification instead of doing a really inventive ending.

Thumbs up or down?

Edited to clarify.

I didn't care for it - I was hooked on reading it through to the end, but found it pretty disturbing. Are we able to discuss this full-blown now?! I'd have a lot more to say if that were the case! LOL

Thumbs down

It was something that I never would of picked up to read if it was not suggested. It is the type of book that makes you think about certain things that take place that people do not know about.

I am not sure if it was a Thumbs Up/Down.

I give it a thumbs up. The story was interesting. I didn't like the fact that there were so many things that were said about Ian in the beginning to make you think he was the killer. I thought the book was going to be so predictable. I think that beginning to doubt Ian could have happened naturally without paragraphs about how he is so quiet but has had bouts of anger. I also was not crazy about the ending.

I always approach a new type of book as a way to learn something new, and let me tell you, I certainly learned a thing or two about S&M. WOW...and I thought I was a woman of the world...but as I was reading I felt like a prude!!

I thought it was an ok book. the story didnt flow, at parts, for me to well.

I have to give it a thumbs sideways...didnt love it...didnt hate it!!

I would have passed it by in a book store so I am glad that it was chosen here. I agree that the author relied on 'shock' value instead of a great storyline. I think the questions it raised were very interesting.

I give it a thumbs up! It was disturbing and I had given up on reading it after Part One but then I decided to pick it up again. I thought it was different and nothing I ever read before. I loved the ending. I don't think I would ever recommend to anyone I know because of the S&M but overall the whole mystery of the book was good.

I give it a thumbs up too! Although some of the stuff was disturbing and very graphic I didnt expect it to end like it did. It was a good murder mystery.

It's not the type of book that I would have picked up. For me it was a disturbing, but good read. I give it a thumbs up. Through the entire book, I wanted to continue reading until the end.

I found this book so very disturbing. For me, it was torture to read. I felt I had to read it, since it was something that I would not ordinarily read. Personally, I would not recommend it - so I guess that it is a 'thumbs down' for me.

I liked it. It was disturbing but also suspenseful, which I really enjoy.

I found parts of the book to be not only very disturbing but also disgusting….yet I was intrigued - so kept reading. I enjoyed the book because it was nothing like I ever read. It shed light on a topic that I am not familiar with. A very risqué book in many ways. I would definitely recommend the book – I think it’s something unlike most people will ever read – disturbing or not it kept me interested.
Thumbs up.

I didn’t like it but am VERY glad I read it. I never read things like this, so this was a good experience for me. In general I thought the book was poorly written, though I liked the idea. I did like the chemistry (not even the sexual chemistry) between M and Nora, and felt like I was looking through a peephole on something very interesting. But I must be honest. I had a really hard time with the kink factor. I can’t tell if I was being prudish, or if I was just nervous? Or maybe I was afraid of being turned on myself!? It was like every sentence I read I was skimming because the detail was just too much for me. A very kinky ride!

I can't decide if I liked it or not. It definitely kept my interested and I also learned a few things I never knew before. I guess I would say I liked it. I gave the book to my friend - it'll be interesting to see her opinion of it. All I told her was S&M and animals!

Re: First Topping Question: Did you like it?

When i first started reading it I almost put it down and never picked it up again, until i realized that this is what a book club was for. To open new doors to things we wouldnt choose on our own so I decided to finish it. I can honestly say that I am happy that I did because it was like no book that I have ever read before in my life. Although most times shocking, I thought it was a good book that peaked my interest throughout.
