I agree they should have left more time in between but I think its great you are going to do the STD'S and I would send them out ASAP
Also maybe you can include hotel accommodations on your std's so maybe they can start booking flights and the hotel now.

i would be annoyed too- only cause you said your family may choose one over the other thats not fair.. I would send STDs out ASAP ! Good Call!

well - maybe - there is a chance that your family will surprise you and be able to come to both. And i know its not ideal - and you have every right to be annoyed - she gave you the green light to plan your day by giving you the time frame of a few years. i totally don't think you would be wrong to confront them with your feelings - and express to them your concern - and see if there is some other scenario which could be played out where everyone is happy. He is your brother and he loves you - and she is your FSIL (no sense in getting off to a bad start)

Ditto - that isn't fair to your guests if it is a financial hardship. or to you (i would be super upset too)

That really stinks!!! I think you have a right to be annoyed. It's gotta be so frustrating - I mean you can't tell someone when to get married and you'd like to think they would have used better judgement. It sounds to me like your FSIL is a bit selfish and your brother needs to stand up to her. Maybe if you talk to him seperately and try to explain that they are not putting themselves in a good light with the rest of your family for choosing a day so close to yours. Maybe he can convice his FI to come up with another date. Ask him what happened to make them change their minds. Maybe something is going on that you don't know about??
