Re: FI's parents paying for RD?
Yes, it is true according to tradition. MY Fi's (now DH) parents hosted and paid for the RD. At first they did not offer and tried to be seeking by ignoring it until my mother brought up the topic which DH's parents was upset as it was an expense they didn't want. However, they said they will host and pay. In the end, they did what they said they will do.
Nowadays, who pays and who hosts the RD can be almost anyone including the bride and groom, or both parents hosting.

Tradition states that the groom's parents pay for the rehearsal dinner.

Re: FI's parents paying for RD?
My FILs are paying for the RD since it is tradition but like stated before, I wish they were paying for something else too. I guess I can't have it all.

Re: FI's parents paying for RD?
It is just as traditional for FH parents to pay for rehearsal as it is for bride's parents to pay for the wedding.
But, as we all know every situation is different these days.
FH's parents have offered in our case, but my side is not paying for the whole wedding, FH and I are. My mom is paying for the band and my dress, which does not sound like a lot, but in my case is a big deal

They say they are going to pay, so hopefully this is what winds up happening, becasue i don't want something in the backyard.
