fittings timeline

How long does it usually take for all fittings to be completed? I'm trying to plan it so I can take my dress home with me over Thansgiving and not have to worry about it.

Re: fittings timeline

I think the fittings usually start one to three months before the wedding. The place that is doing my fittings says they only need a month but I booked my first fitting at the end of September for my November 8 wedding. I think I only have to go for two fittings.

Re: fittings timeline

My salon told me to have my last fitting no earlier than 1 week before the wedding. She said many brides will have a major weight flux during those final stressful days.

The other fittings can be as late as you want but i would space them a month apart.

Re: fittings timeline

Thats what I was told also. Brides tend to lose a few pounds right before the wedding. That is the reason they want the last fitting close to the wedding.

Re: fittings timeline

Even though my wedding isn't until end of December, I'm gonna have my fittings completed by Nov, so I can take the dress home with me then and have one less thing to haul home at x-mas. I think that should be ok....the chances of me dropping some pounds is highly unlikely expecially it being x-mas week and drinking all that eggnog!
Thanks for the input!

Re: fittings timeline

I am getting married Oct 18th and today is my first fitting. They told me the same thing. I am not worried, the seamstess is at the store. I already dropped a size since I got measured and tried it on.

Re: fittings timeline

I just had my first fitting last week, and my wedding is about 3 weeks away! I lost some weight recently, so didn't want to go too early.

My next fitting is scheduled for next week, and the last one will be earlier in the week of the wedding.
