Someone want to recommend me a flat screen tv, and why?
I'm buying one for FH. No clue what I am looking for but want to keep it under $1,000.
Tell me what companies are good, anything.
ORRR if anyone has consumer reports and could tell me what a good one is, that would be appreciated as well!
Thank you!

Re: Flat Screen TV Recommendations
I have a Samsung and am happy with it. It's one of the cheaper (but still good) brands out there.
Whatever you choose, make sure it has 1080p HD (not 720) ....! This is the quality of the picture and 1080 is significantly nicer (but unfortunately, also costs more)

Re: Flat Screen TV Recommendations
I bought a 42' Samsung for myself and love it. My B2B loved it so much she bought the same one too. If you go to PC Richard and find one in your price range just write down the model number and FM me on here. I do alot of business with the PC richards in Commack and I have an 'in' as far as prices go. But the discounts depend on the model and what they bought it for etc...

Re: Flat Screen TV Recommendations
There are 2 kind of flat TV's to buy right now.
Plasma and LCD.
Plasma is really NOT the way to go. Because it is made with glass it can reflect light. Plus, they do have a shelf life and can NEVER be 'recharged'.
I always tell my friends (I used to sell home theater at Best Buy and Circuit City) That if you want a great TV you would do great with Sharp. We have 2 46' in our home.
Pioneer, Panasonic are next.
Sony is last.
The ONLY reason I put SONY last is you pay out the nose for the name, plus you prob cant get one for under a grand anyway. The quality is fantastic.
But for quality and features, Sharp, for me is it.
1. Make sure you don't get one too big. If you are sitting 10' away from the TV you can do a 42' to 50.
2. Make sure the TV is 1040i AND 1040p. That means interlaced and progressive. Most TV's do have that now. Basically its the new standard for high definition resolution.
3. See if you can get a TV with a cable card slot. If you have a slot you don't need a cable box. DOWNSIDE is you cant to do pay per view.
4. All the new TV's have HDMI slots (high definition multimedia interface) The more you have is better but NOT a dealbreaker. Any TV should have at LEAST 2. This is what you plug a high def cable box, PS3, newer DVD players have this connection. You ca still use other pugs, but as long as your cable box, DVD player, PS3 etc HAVE that plug, its worth the higher quality picture. Compare it to a porshe and a Honda. You can use both, and they will BOTH get you there, but the porshe will be a better ride.
That's all I can think of for now. FM me with any questions.

Re: Flat Screen TV Recommendations
We have the Panasonic Viera LCD and so far no complaints. It was a gift for us though so I don't know how much it was, I'm sure it wasn't more than $1000 though.

Re: Flat Screen TV Recommendations
my FH works for Consumer reports and he recommends Samsung, Panasonic, Vizio, and LG cause they tested them at the job. We got our Panasonic 50inch for $1200 at Costco and it's great.
