fleas?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

So somehow my cats (who are indoor cats) got fleas, or at least we think its fleas. The only time they could have gotten it was when they stayed with my IL's during our honeymoon (they have other cats who go outside)

We bought flea shampoo and washed them both (i have so many scratches on me its not even funny...it wasnt easy!) and we bought this carpet stuff to put on our carpet to kill fleas, and flea collars

is there anymore we can do?

I know this is a stupid question but can people get fleas? (after finding this out ive been feeling itchy all over and im sure its in my head but im just wondering)

and should i do anyhting with my couches, bed, etc..?

oh yeah thanks!

get some frontline plus... or similar product. you can buy it in the stores sometimes.. but the vet will give you the right dosage for your cat's weight and age..etc.. They may also suggest treating your cat with Revolution which kills most parasites. That i am pretty sure u can get in the vet only.. but we treat all our strays with it when they get spayed/neutered. ( i also treat my own cats with it to prevent worms, fleas, ear mites and other parasites..and i think it may also be effective in preventing heartworm which can be very dangerous)
We always treat our dogs and cats monthly.. even though our cats are indoors.. they can still get them sometimes, and our dogs are outside frequently. Even with all the stray cats we've had here..we have yet to see any fleas!! so i def. recommend the revolution.

and yes..fleas can cause itchy bites on people...

i used to think that too.. but fleas jump really high.. and even if they are outside they can find their way in. The first time my cat got them.. he was a single kitty with my dog who was getting older and he didnt go out anymore.. and i couldnt imagine where they got fleas from..but those little suckers find a way. especially when kitty likes to hang out by the window and watch the birdies.. (like mine do!) ..fleas are like little predators..
some cats can be allergic to flea bites though and get some nasty hot spots.. so id def. get some medication for it..
i know it makes u feel all yucky.. i was itchy the whole time.. in fact im itchy just reading now..lol... but if u shampoo everything (especially carpets, sheets, couch, kitty beds.. anything like that) and kill the live adult fleas and eggs on ur kitty with a good product.. it should be fine

they must have gotten it when they stayed at my in laws when we were on our honeymoon. They have other cats that do go outside so my cats must have gotten it from them. I live on the 2nd floor of an apt building so i dont think theres any way they could have gotten them otherwise

o ok.. i hope they get better.. my cat used to be a stray, and when we took him to the vet, he said that he gave him something so he should be good for a year.. not sure what it was DH dealt with it all.. i try to google it..

uh oh! I would say frontline or advantiix, but if they are still in your carpets then you might need to bomb.
