Wedding is 9/17 - the mother of my two FGs had taken the dresses to the dry cleaners to have a mark removed, she was contacted today and informed that the dresses were ruined. The cleaners said the gentle solution was used but the fabric is ruined, the sequins have melted and the rose attached on the back of the dress is gone (dissolved to nothing). They are claiming they are not at fault ... I am so sick to my stomach now I can't even think straight. . I told her to raise hell and demand the compensation... but that will not help me right now with no dresses for the children ...

If Estelle's doesn't work out, look inregular department stores. Since your wedding is so soon, you could probably find a fancy summer dress on sale right now.

OMG! I would also contact the Attorney General (FM me for info)! I can't believe that! I am sure you will be able to find something. Just breathe, everything will be okay. I also think you will be able to find something in Estelle's. Good luck!

I'll find out from the mother tomorrow and let you know, somewhere in Suffolk. I was too stunned and nauseous for it to register when she told me.

Re: Floer girls dresses ruined
Perk can dissolve glue and sequins, any reputable dry cleaner will warn you of this and will usually pull off a sequin and test it to see if it will dissolve or not. It is their fault because all dry cleaners know this. I worked in a dry cleaner through out high school and we were NOT allowed to take in ANYTHING with sequins, beading or details like that without the owner checking it first.
Knowing this information, if they have a sign in the store, which most do, stating that they are not responsible for damage to beading, sequins and other things like that, I am not sure that legally you would have a leg to stand on. BUT in the spirit of doing good business if the mother of your FG's is a good customer you would think that they would want to work it out.
I am so sorry you are going through this. I know that I have seen cute FG dresses at Marshalls.
Also, I would get in touch with the dress manufacturer. If the dress says dry clean only, they technically might be responsible for your damages, since THEIR directions were followed and they should have known better also.

They are definitely at fault. I would raise hell also. What, they never cleaned dresses like that before-then they shouldnt have done it first of all. You have to go there. I'm sorry honey.

Re: Floer girls dresses ruined
Definitely check out Lord and Taylor and JC Penney's. They both have really pretty party dresses for little girls.
And absolutely demand compensation from the dry cleaner. Those signs don't mean anything - just like if you have to leave your bag at the front of a store and it says they won't be responsible for any problems. It's all crap, they are 100% responsible so don't let them get away with this.

I would definitely try Estelle's on Rte.110 - take the Southern State Exit 32 North or the LIE Exit 49S. I was just in there the other day and they had cute things.
I would also try Charlotte's Kids in Massepeaqua - also very beautiful, classy dresses for girls right off the rack.
