Floral Centerpieces??
Is everyone doing floral centerpieces or going another route? Wondering if I should try to save $ and do something instead of floral.

Floral Centerpieces??
we were going to , but ended up realizing that it would be a lot of work the day of so we would need a DOC which was about the same as the savings for (almost) the same centerpiece with flowers added. try hidden essenceyou could also do candles (sets of 3 at BB&B maybe $30) and throw petals around them

Floral Centerpieces??
I'm doing something like my avatar...more candles than flowers. Lucky my planner is doing my decor/florals too, so I saved money by not going to an floral/event designer.

I'm doing more of a tablescape. I purchased small bird cages and vintage books (shabby chic theme) and brought them to my florist. She is filling them with hydrangeas and and then we will have a few mason jars with candles and some with hydrangeas surrounding them. it works out to be $40 per table and I paid $120 for 10 cages. The flowers will be blue and white hydrangeas

We actually bought candelabras for our table when Macy's was having a really good sale.We will put tea lights and rose petals around the base too.

Re: Floral Centerpieces??
Really nice ideas. This may be a dumb question but who sets up centerpieces if you don't have a DOC? is it the hall (maitre de) or is it on you?

Re: Floral Centerpieces??
I'm very crafty and take the DIY route whenever possible, so I've already know exactly how I'm going to create my wedding centerpieces
We're looking at a December wedding, so I want to do white branches with sprigs of holly berries in a tall clear glass vase as our centerpieces - maybe with some LED lights if I can find a way to make it work
You can order really inexpensive vases on craft websites, and it saves you a ton of money by putting it together yourself! As for the setup - that's your hall's responsibility. Brides have enough on their minds at that point!
I would imagine your maitre'd sets it up? I know most places just ask you to drop everything off the day/night before, and they take care of it after that. And if they don't, then they SHOULD with all the money we pay for these weddings! Lol!

the setup isnt the halls responsibility, well even if it is you need to appoint a non-bridal party member to make sure it is RIGHT.that was just too much for us w/o a DOC !

Floral Centerpieces??
Lauren correct, it isn't the halls responsibility to set up centerpieces. If all they need to do is take it from the box and put it on the table, they will do this. They won't assemble.

You can buy hurricane vases from ACMoore and fill them with water and have floating tea lights in them with sand or glass rocks at the bottom. I am doing trees with hanging crystal and tea lights which look very nice. Or even just all different sized votive candles with some rose pedals on the table would look great and feel romantic.
