Floral Decorations for Church...

Floral Decorations for Church...

for those of you looking for a church ceremony:

1- how much more $$ is anyone spending to decorate the church? how can you make sure the florists will remove the decorations in time for the next wedding (ie assuming you are a 12 pm wedding and the next wedding is scheduled for 3 pm, etc)?

2- would this floral arrangement (see pic below) cost more than say, $ 500?

That floral decor is DEF DEF going to cost you more then $500. I could be wrong but the size of them look like reg. cp's which could run you about $100 each. It looks like something like that might run you around...... $800.

Or i could be totally off. But i'm pretty sure it'll cost more then $500. It is beautiful though.

To save $ what you can do is see if anyone is getting married right before or after you and split the cost of church flowers.

good idea! thanks for the suggestion..and thanks to the flower person who sent me FM - $1,500 sounds more accurate given the volume of those floral centerpieces!! I just love how it looks!!!

Ahh well...back to the drawing board!

I had 2 flower arrangments on the alter and pew bows...that was it...and while I wanted more the cost was nuts! Also the church said once the flowers are there they need to stay...sorta a donation...so w/ that being the 'rule' I just went simple!

we are actually not planning on getting floral arrangements for the church - it can really add up to a lot of money. We are just going to get some kind of pew decorations (not sure what yet).

IMO I feel like churches are beautiful on their own and don't really need anything extra - at least that's they way I feel about my church.

That's pretty, but im not a flower person so I plan on just getting pew bows. Plus my church is like circular so there is no actual isle to walk down.

i agree thats going to cost you way more than 500. someone is going to charge you more than 100 for each on of those. i would suggest doing like 2 big bunches on each side and keeping the tule that may be 500 .

Us, too, though FMIL is not happy. She told me she's stealing the orchids from work and putting them in the church.

And that arrangement, while gorgeous, would probably be between $1k and $2k.

Haha problem is we 'raffle' them off here at work. I know it's ridiculous, all because one person complained that we showed favoritism when distributing the orchids, meanwhile it was her own damn fault.

She said she's getting all of reception and the secretaries and our two managers to put their names in- usually only the managers/attorneys win... surprise, surprise! They swear it's random though!

whenever I see all the ribbons on the pews like that it looks like it's blocking entry so that guests need to enter from th e side aisles. I always liked how everyone leaves the church after you and with the decorations like that they can't. unless I'm seeing it wrong.

also the attention should be on you, why overwhelm the place with all yhat for so much money. with things so expensive, the money can be better used for other things.

That decor is way more then 500. I'd say closer to 1000 or more. I'm not doing any floral decorations for the church though so I'm not much of a help.

yea originally I didnt plan for church decor until I saw the church and noticed how bare it looks inside. The aisle and pews are all wooden and there isn't much decorations around as it is, so I def need some flowers to spice it up.

I see your wedding is right before christmas, wouldn't your church be decorated already?
my wedding is a week after easter, and it will still be decorated which saves me money for not having to get flowers.

each of those could be between 150 and 250 a piece depending where u go!!!!

we are doing 2 large ones like these, roses/hydrangea at the altar and its gonna be like 350 total...

the florists always says if u r on a budget, to spend the money in the reception becasue you are only at the church for a short time

those decorations are pretty but for me personally i decided to save some money in this area.. the church is already decorated with flowers during the year besides lent so i am just going to go w/ whatever is there at the church.... and if you are getting married by xmas that is even better, its really nice the way the altar is decorated, my sister got married the day after xmas and it was so pretty to have the xmas decorated altar in all of her pics!

make sure you're ALLOWED to have those decorations!

I'm not allowed to have candles, an altar runner or anything blocking the aisles.

i was just gonna say this. Definitely check with the church first about any sort of decor.

Our church does not allow aisle runners but that's the only I know for sure. I need to ask when we meet with the priest about what sort of pew decor I am allowed to have.
