Floral Terrace Food tasting last night - very honest
Oh man! Where do I begin . . . First of all I am still full
No seriously - I am going to be totally HONEST!
FMIL & FFIL were not happy that we had to wait for the valet - but we were a little early so I think it was okay. My parents said that their car was valet'd immediately upon arrival and that the valet seemed to run very smoothly.
There was a function ending and people were leaving as well as a wedding starting and people starting to come. Needless to say the lobby was quite crowded. The wedding that was going to start was busy taking pictures in the garden room and I don't even know what some of the people leaving were doing - they were not waiting for the valet or their coats, so I have no clue.
As soon as we got there we checked out coats and saw Martin (one of my favorite people there). He got us drinks (FH & I had apple martinis(so delicious!!), FMIL had a cosmo, FFIL had something I forgot, My mom had vodka & tonic and my dad had a white russian) right away. Then after about 5 minutes he took us up to the 'Groom's suite' where they had a table all set up for us and a Bridal Attendant (Julio) to serve us and get us anything and everything we wanted.
Julio started off by refreshing our drinks. He then brought us trays & trays of stuff from the CH. (Look at my profile to see pics - I am not good at putting them in here)
Everything was delicious EXCEPT. . .
We thought the calamari was a bit too crispy (not the best we have had but not the worst we have had either) and the eggplant rollatini tasted different from what we are used to b.c they used a cheese inside other than ricotta and it changed the taste a little. (It was okay, not the best). But hey! out of all that food just two things not great is pretty good. We did not get to try to pasta stations (b.c we were so full) so I can't tell you about them. There was also a steak or beef and peppers that I did not try but the fam said it was a bit spicy but very good. The steak or beef pizzaiola was my favorite thing from CH. And the chicken sorrentino was okay, I don't like chicken that way but the others said it was good.
He asked us if there was anything else from the CH that we wanted and then he got it for us. While we were eating he brought in one of the butlers with a pass around tray that had coconut shrimp, pigs in blankets and bacon wrapped scallops for us to try. They were all amazing!
After we finally finished our CH food, it was on to the main course. He brought out one of everything that was being served that night (which happened to be everything that I planned on choosing for my wedding too). Rack of Lamb, Chilean Sea Bass, Filet mignon, Stuffed Chicken and Shrimp (something). The plates were accented with either rice or potatoes in an edible wrap and veggies.
I tried the Sea Bass (my favorite and omg - soooo good!), the Stuffed chicken(something I would normally order if sea bass were not an option and again omg sooooo good!) and the Shrimp (which was also sooo good!). I also tried the potatoes (out of this world) and the rice (typical rice - it was okay)
As if this was not enough. . . while we were finishing up with dinner Julio asked us if we wanted coffee and we all asked for decaf cappuccinos. So he brought these for us with a tray of pastries and a tray of cookies.
He checked in on us every few minutes as he was also waiting tables in the CH and ballroom at the same time. He told us we could stay as long as we wanted. We got there at like 6:30 (supposed to be there at 6:45) and we did not leave until about 9:00pm.
I have to tell you . . . the service was impeccable, we really did feel like royalty. The food was excellent like everyone says but of course not everyone will like everything (which was the case here).
My father also made a comment and I feel this is important and I agree that they keep the FT so clean, it was spotless and you could see the people (well we could - not if you are at an affair) cleaning everything when each part of the wedding was over. Julio told us that they clean everything including the kitchen from head to toe every night to make sure it stays immaculate. (He said this without hearing my father's comment. He said it b/c as we were leaving we saw the guys cleaning the CH room).
Well, I know I can be detailed - but I hope this helps! And look at my pics to see what everything looked like.
