Flordia Honeymoon - Not Disney

Anyone going to Flordia for their honeymoon? (any place other then disney)

FH doens't want to go on a plane so we are going to drive down to FL. We want to sit on the beach and relax, not looking to do the theme park thing.

Where are you going?

Key West is amazing. I got engaged there. It's beutiful, the resturants are amazing, there is a lot too do.

It would be a great honeymoon for FL. Also you can spend a few days in Miami then rent a convertable and drive down. That's what we did and it was awesome. Would go back in a heartbeat!

We're staying in South Beach for a couple days after the wedding to unwind and then taking a cruise from there

You can go to the Keys (its beautiful there!) or you can go to Naples...Its really nice there also!

We're actually getting married in Florida! (But honeymooning in Thaliand.) The wedding is right outside Naples in Bonita Springs. I loove the west coast. Find it much more relaxing. Don't get me wrong-South Beach/Miami are a great time too, but for a honeymoon I'd prefer a relaxing atmosphere. Try Naples, Marco Island, Sanibel Island...all gorgeous!!

My mother in law lives in Sarasotta. I think its beautiful there, there are some theme parks around, but the beach is breath taking. They have a strip you can drive down and park your car a few feet from the water and just get out and relax. Look at Manatee (spelling?) County, that entire area is great (very anti-Disney).

we went to the Sanibel Spa and Harbor Resort. We loved it!

I went to West Palm Beach/Palm Beach Shores a few years ago for a wedding and it was amazing. I considered that for our honeymoon, but I don't really want to be in Florida for hurricane season.

St Georges Island off the coast of the Panhandle is amazing without being super touristy. We used to go there a lot when I was at FSU and is one of those islands that has more residents than tourists.

I vote for the keys!!

You must not just stop in key west explore the other keys, they are usually hardest hit by the hurricanes and really rely on tourism to keep going.

The smaller keys are sureal.. there is an awesome 'natural' beach .. Bahia Honda .. its amazing!
