So Fh and i have a week to kill before we take our cruise so rather than staying in new york, we want to go to florida. We were looking for a beach type place (cruise leaves from miami but many people told us there are better places to stay.) I need recommendations on hotels please!! We were looking into Key West, Key Largo, Daytona, and Hollywood. We're looking for a nice hotel on the beach for a reasonable price and you know a clean hotel with no bugs For those of you who have been to any of these places, your opinions and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Oh we are also looking for a good night life. Someone said key west bars are open till 4. Is this true??? Thank you all!!

key west is crazy..its up to you if you want a real party hardy night life though
hollywood..be careful where you stay..its not so nice near the water there..i lived there for a but..if you want to stay on the beach..i would stay in deerfield or pompano..they are like 10 minles north of ft lauderdale..where the bestter nightlife is..

WHat about staying at South Beach!! Its only 20 minutes tops from the airport!! You won't need to rent a car (you don't need one in south beach), just take a taxi (its a flat rate- comes out the same as the travel buses and theres no one else with you). I LOVE South Beach!! DH and I always stay at The Clinton Hotel and Spa! Very reasonable, and only a block from Ocean Ave!
Brian lived in Daytona for 4 months so I spent a lot of time there! Not nearly as nice as South Beach!

i grew up in daytona and i would definitely say to stay somewhere else! they've renovated a lot of the beach hotels now but it still isn't nearly as nice as some of the other places in florida, sadly. i would say to stick to south florida....i've never been but i've heard great things about key largo.
also, i'm not sure how far you want to stay from miami, but the tampa bay area is gorgeous, especially the beach in st. pete! my friend got married there a couple of years ago and it was really nice.

Thanks ladies!!! I am not familiar enough with florida. Everything looks beautiful on the websites but in person, reviews are stating otherwise. The reason we're not staying in miami is because everyone keeps saying that it lacks the romance that we would like on our honeymoon. We are looking for someplace on the beach, with a romantic touch, with a good surrouding nightlife that won't take away from the honeymoon. PS: WE ARE DRIVING DOWN!!! I want to beat FH up!! He wont fly! Our catering hall gave us a free 10 day stay in one of their honeymoon suites in their hotel on the coast of Greece. I wanted to do that and then take a 16 day med. cruise. He wont fly. I am trying to convince him for our one year anniversary.

south beach is amazing beautiful beaches hotel across from the ocean, and you are in walking distance from everything. There are shops, restaurants, and bars all in walking distance. Been there many times.. its AWESOME>

Some reasonable hotels on South Beach is The Townhouse hotel and The National. There is also a Courtyard Marriott on south beach as well.

national is goign to be @ least 400 a night...i as well HIGHLY reccomend it ..
BUT- some hotels you should look @ that you will like the price NOT on the beach a block over-
Catalina- very posh- model hang out
Shelly Happy hour drinks included a plus!!

the KENT hotel- very very trendy about 130 a night 1 block away from beach- my clients like that one bc it's in the heart of SOBE and so inexpensive- the rooms again are very small basic nice decor)

I can't remember hotels I stayed at, but I would recommend the Keys over South Beach personally. I think South Beach was beautiful, but I was not a fan of the whole scene there. IMO the people seemed snobby and materialistic. Just not my crowd. Key West and Key Largo were just really fun and laid back, beautiful places. Everything was a bar, a restaurant or a place to rent water sports equipment. Good times, nice people. Very relaxing. And the sunset from Mallory Square in Key West is just breathtaking!

I don't know if you're willing to look at another place besides the ones you listed but I've been to coconut grove twice, its about 20 mins from miami maybe even less actually. I LOVED it there. Its a very nice small area with LOTS of restaurants, bars, shops. We stayed at the sonesta both times and i really liked this hotel its very nice and clean. If you want more info let me know...but if you want to stick to key west, i always tell people to ask tilde lol shes been there like 4 times so she can definitely help you with hotels and things to do there...Have fun wherever you go
