Florist....
I met with a florist that did amazing work. He is used to doing hi-end events where money is no issue. He gave us a proposal which I asked him to revise due to my budget and he said no. He will only give a proposal if we sign a contract and leave a deposit. Has anyone else encountered this?

He'll only give you a price quote if you leave a deposit? That sounds seriously shady.

I would not sign anything with them at all!! It sounds like the cost is going to be RIDICULOUS.. Who negotiates after signing??

Don't do it..I'm sick of vendors thinking they have the upper hand, they need our business more than we need theirs!! You have plenty of florist to chose from on Long Island.

That definitely sounds sketchy. I would definitely want to know how much I'm paying before I sign a contract. FH and I have not encountered your situation with any vendor we've met so far, so I don't think it is normal.

Sketchy...The florist we're thinking of using flat out said 'I don't want any money until you book' and he's working on our samples for us to look at Saturday!

I didn't think that was the norm but i also haven't booked many vendors yet. Apparently i have to make a second appointment if i want to make changes, he wont give me a price oner the phone or in an email. There are plenty of other florists out there that i can check out. Any suggestions on florists in nassau or queens?

Super weird! Your the customer so you are the one who really should be dictating terms. There are too many other florists who do great work and will give you a quote on the spot after the consultation.

nobody should make you sign anything without giving you the price and details of what you are getting. I know a lot of vendors don't give pricing unless it's face to face so that is fine but you shouldn't have to sign anything.Welcome New Vendors
