did anyone go to a florist appt w/out any color swatches to work off of?
i'm going today and i don't have any color swatches to show them. i do have an idea of the 'look' i like, though (low centerpieces, candles, etc). did you find you needed to know the specific colors before deciding on the flowers you wanted?

Re: florist appt - okay to go w/out color swatch?
I booked my florist before i had a color swatch. I had an idea.. and she went off of that. Just recently I went back to finalize the flowers.

in all honesty, i don't know much about flowers and what colors certain flowers come in, so i wasn't sure if i'd end up liking certain floral arrangements to find out later that the particular shade of pink i need cannot be used in the arrangement i want (does that make sense??)

I don't think you need to bring swatches.
I thought all the pictures my florist had on hand were most helpful. They had a ton of pictures of all different flowers and color combination.

I brought absolutely nothing to the florist with me because I had no clue what I wanted. Usually the florist will have some good ideas, and if you describe what color you are looking for, they should be able to help you out. Also if the florist has flowers in the shop when you go, you could also use those as a reference!

I booked my florist without having a color swatch. It wasn't problem at all. I just told her what colors I was looking for and she showed me different examples of the flowers we could use.

Do you know the color of you BM dresses? Is it that you just don't have a swatch - or have you not decided upon a color yet?
I'm pretty good with flowers, I can help you. FM me....

we have the BM dresses all picked out, and they're a shade of pink. i've seen tons of pictures of pink flowers, but i can't tell which ones will truly match the dresses (the dresses won't come in until the end of the month).
i just wasn't sure if i'd be expected to know the specific pink to go with, or if that can be decided on the month before the wedding.

Where did you get the BM dresses from? Usually any dress shop will have swatches... and they can give you a piece so you can take it with you.

the place we bought the dresses did not have swatches, so i ended up checking out RK bridal which carries the dress. they had the swatch in a book, but nothing to give me.
the girls' dresses should be in at the end of this month, so hopefully i can get some fabric off of their dress. then we'll have one month till the wedding to decide on specific flowers. think that's enough time? (i guess even if it's not enough time, not like i can do anything about it, right?? definitely not worth stressing about!)

It should be PLENTY of time for your florist. You could try requesting one directly from the manufacturer. They can usually ship it pretty quickly. Either that, or you could request the store to order it for you if you are in a rush. Can you show me the color from online.

i just got back from the florist and we worked out all the items we'll need for the wedding (chuppah, centerpieces, bouquets, etc.) and we're going to meet with him again in a few weeks when he'll show my sample centerpieces. by then i should have some fabric to give him, so we're all set! :)
