Florist & Centerpieces

Florist & Centerpieces

i am planning on looking at florists in April and i was wondering how do you know how many centerpieces you will need if you dont know the number of how many people will come to your wedding yet. (since mine is more than a year away)
do you go by how many you are inviting just in case they all show up?
or do you go by how many you guaranteed you hall?
TIA!

We figured our wedding will be around 200 people. We have 250-300 being invited, and our minimum is 175. We figured we would use the 200 and 10 per table, that we we could add people to the table if need be and our florist said we could move the actualy amount of centerpieces needed up/down up to a few weeks before the wedding.

always think less when you give your florist the # of tables otherwise if you go below that # you will be stuck with extra centerpieces

The few I met with based my centerpieces off the number of guests i guarenteed.

I would base the number off your min guarantee and figure 10 people per table..you can always add on!

thanks everyone! and FutureWifey thanks! i didn't know if you would be locked in to what number you gave them but it makes sense that you wouldn't be and you would be able to add more or less as wedding got closer and you knew exactly how many people were going to be coming.

The florists I went to were very understanding that my number is just an estimate. They each called it just that.. a 'Floral Estimate.' So I guess it would just be good to check with your florist how long you have to make changes and give final numbers.

You just approximate for now. The florist knows its not a definite number.

You give your guarantee for now. If you need more when you give your final payment you'll give them the final number that you'll need.
