I haven't started to look for a florist yet and I was wondering what to expect when I start making appointments. Will they show me a mock of the centerpieces and bouquets before choosing and signing a contract with them? OR do you have to sign with them before they show you a mock? Any information, helpful hints, or advice would be appreciated!

Re: Florist Question
when i made my apt they showed me lots of pics of centerpieces that i was describing and then he went in the back and grabbed flowers to show me what the scheme would look like. I didn't see my completed centerpiece until like 3 weeks before.

Re: Florist Question
Most florists do not show you a sample until your appointment to book or after you sign contract. Out of the 7 florists I visited only 1 showed me a sample without booking or signing.

Re: Florist Question
When we went to see the florist we ended up going with, we met with her for like an hour and discussed every single line item on the order sheet so she could get an idea of what we were looking for and be able to price it out for us (meaning if I wanted peonies in November, it would be different pricing than roses, etc.). We sat near her computer and she pulled up pics from there and from their portfolios when I was describing what I wanted to say 'you mean like this?' and we ended up booking eventually because I really felt that she understood what I wanted.
But before we booked, she offered to make us up a centerpiece and come see it. So she did and a few weeks later we saw it and liked it and signed the contract. But even the florist we didn't end up going with offered to make us a centerpiece. Ultimately, I declined his offer because I KNEW we weren't going to go with them (their style was very different from what I wanted and I didn't feel like he was really listening to me... but anyhoo...) Yes, a sample was offered before we signed the contract in both cases.

Re: Florist Question
Some florists will make you a sample the day of, I found it was best not to expect it...I was searching for a florist in the fall and my wedding was in May, so the flowers I wanted were not in season. I showed LA Blossom pictures of flowers I liked so I suggest doing the same. My florist also had pictures of her work.
