your florist charged you a delivery/set up charge....I booked months ago and just got my finalized contract so that I can make final payment and I saw the extra $100 charge....they never mentioned it to me nor was it anywhere on my first contract. Does everyone get this charge? There was also a space to add in Gratuity and suggests 18% of your total...which would mean an extra $320...I just thought we had to tip the drivers. So what do you guys think?

Re: Florist question...Just curious if....
Good question. I assumed delivery was part of contract (as there is no place on my contract that says there is an extra charge at time of delivery). I never hear of any 18% service charge either (I thought that usually applied to catering facilities). I would call and dispute that right away and make a copyof your original contract and show it to them. That is the only one with your signature, right?
I would 'tip' the delivery persons and that's it (unless you want to tip the florist as well) but 18% is RIDICULOUS in my opinion.
If you don't mind me asking, who is your florist?
I would have to add another $500.00 if 18% was tacked on. I really never heard of such a thing.

If the charge wasn't in the contract, he shouldn't bill you for it... But sometimes florists have those charges and it depends on the florist.
You DON'T have to pay gratuity, unless you feel its necessary (i.e. they did extraordinary job, etc). And its especially true if they are already charging you for the delivery and set up...

mine didn't. But others I visited did include delivery and set-up fees.

Re: Florist question...Just curious if....
well the gratuity isn't required theres just a space to fill it in...so i won't be putting anything in that spot...I just plan on tipping the delivery people....especially if i have to pay an extra 100 for delivery/setup.....there is there tip. So your florists didn't have that charge?
Oh...and it called an 18% STAFF Gratuity

my florist didn't, but he is only 15 mins away from reception site. Some of the ones I visited did... Depends on florist and distance.

Re: Florist question...Just curious if....
I just realized that I used one of the house florists of my catering hall, so that might be why I didn't have a set up fee.

Re: Florist question...Just curious if....
nope, no delivery charge (but like I said, its not unheard of. I know James Cress quoted us a delivery charge when we checked them out).
Is it a far distance for your wedding? Totally unfair that it was never mentioned before - I would dispute that!

Re: Florist question...Just curious if....
Most of the florists I visited charged a set up/delivery fee and it was around the $100 mark. Ours didn't charge because it was literally a block away from the reception hall.
I never heard of adding a gratuity to a florist contract though. We just tipped the woman that set up the flowers.

I bet if you complain, they'll drop the fee.

Re: Florist question...Just curious if....
well I'm going to call tomorrow...they are closed today anyway....plus I never signed the other contract...this is the one they want me to sign.....It would be such abig deal if they would have been up front and told me...it bothers me that all of a sudden this fee appears.
