Did I ask for something so unusual. I really want to know what I am paying for and as she was quoting me for about $5000 I think that I deserve that. That is so awful!

she declined your wedding?! ugh, move on to another florist and don't give her another thought!
I feel like some Manhattan weddings work a little differently than weddings that are coordinated out in the 'burbs. That florist has probably never (or rarely has) brides asking for a price breakdown because that would be considered 'tacky'- or because price is usually no object for some brides.
Don't feel badly about asking for a price breakdown! It just makes you a smart bride and makes that florist look like snobs.

That's really weird. You should definitely have a price breakdown. At a minimum, she should give you a proposal that tells you exactly how many flowers and what varities will be in the bouquets, centerpieces, etc. Her loss!

Thanks girls! I was really hurt by what she said, even though I know it should not matter. Sometimes its so overwelming planning everything and working fulltime I get really frustrated.
I think its really important to get a breakdown. My best friend got married and the florist forgot to include her most expensive flower, but since the price and flower was stated in the contract her have her $$ back without any argument whatsoever. I just want to know what I am getting I don't think its too much to ask.
