florist vent

I have all my major vendors booked! The last one I booked was the florist and that is because I foolishly waited for a call back from Pedestals. I have read mixed reviews on here about them, but they are one of the house vendors for CHCC so I went to see them. I loved the guy I met with (Virgil)…his ideas were great and so was their pricing (considering I had to use a house florist). I was excited but decided not to book on the spot because I wanted to go home and look at the budget etc.
FH called him a few days later and Virgil said he was on his way out the door but would call him back Saturday at 10:30am…needless to say 10:30 came and went and no call. At about 1pm we called and left a message with someone at pedestals who said he was with a customer but he would call us back later that day. We did not get a call back until the FOLLOWING Saturday…that was more then an entire week after FH made the initial call!!!! We literally had just booked with another florist earlier that morning and told him that when he called.

I don’t know if this is how they operate normally but how can people run a business like that?!?! 8 days to return a call??? UGHHHH
So frustrating but in the end I am sure it will work out…I love the new florist I booked with…he was so fun to work with and had great ideas too!

I'm so glad I read this! I'm a CHCC bride and I was planning on looking at Pedestals but now I won't waste my time! Did you end up using another CHCC recommendation? I've heard that Flowers by Brian is very good!

Out of the 4 that CHCC uses, i heard Spitz & Peck and jack+rose are very expensive...and I also heard things about jack+rose having a poor rating with the better business bureau so it narrowed my shopping down to Pedestals and Flowers By Brian.

I met with Pedestals first and since I liked him and his ideas I wanted to book without shopping around. Virgil not calling me back was probably a blessing in disguise because I then met with Flowers by Brian (Joseph) and loved him! He also had great ideas and worked with my budget. His customer service is phenomenal...I got a call a few days after my appt to see if i had any questions etc which is the complete opposite of Pedestals. I highly recommend Flowers By Brian!!!

If you still want to check out pedestals I would just try to pick a different consultant to work with. Ask some of the girls on here who they are working with and then specifically schedule an appt with them....but my vote is still for FBB...definitely check them out they are worth it. I was foolish not to want to look into them initially as they are creative, professional and a great value.

We booked with Cress Florist in Little Neck.....Tom was amazing!!! I was unsure of exactly what I wanted and from the assortment of ideas I was throwing at him he got it so right. He put a sample together right than and there and we LOVED it! Same with my bouquet.....suggested white orchids as an accent flower to my pale pink roses ...not a fan of orchids but, he put it together (a few blooms) and it was beautiful.......the best was how he went out of his way to help us make a simple but, lovely chuppah......an arch would be to big and he could see how important it was to me ....he walked to the restaurant with us....took a look around and said I'll be right back......he came with these clips that he is able to setup and drape white satin fabric with four strips hanging down .....since the restaurant is small we need to take it down right away and this will look nice and be easy to remove in mins.

This is definitely how they always operate! I had so many issues with them that I had to find a way to get in touch with the owner, who doesn't even work there, and that was the only point in which i got an immediate response.

I was all for them in the beginning and Virgil is great too but there have been a lot of things that have pi$$ed me off about them....

Keep looking and make sure they are who you want to book with before you do
