Any input on Spitz & Peck Florist vs. Stefans?

I had a friend who used Spitz & Peck and loved them even though they were quite pricey. They were also recommended by my hall, so I paid them a visit, and they quoted me $5500. When we asked for an itemized list, they said they mail out the quotes, and we should receive it in a few days. After 2 weeks, we had not received it, so my mom called. They said that they would mail it out right away. Another 2 weeks, and still no paperwork. After yet another call and nothing, we decided that they were irresponsible, and wouldn't use anyway. We wound up using Burton's, and getting the most incredible flowers for less than $3000. By the way, I got married last November, and we are still waiting for their quote :)

I have heard some good things about S&P but actually mostly bad. The last 2 weddings I went to (last year) both had used them. The flowers were a few days old, looked it and died a day later! It was like they reused flowers. They are pricey I did hear too.

These people are the nicest people I've ever met...Haven't seen my flowers yet, as wedding is not until next year, but have seen them in 2 different affairs - with absolutely fabulous displays. They also do invites...

A friend had hired them & said they could do certain things, then the guy they spoke with was no longer there at the last meeting a few weeks ago & the owner was refusing to do certain things with the flowers she wanted!!! She wanted a wreath of the tiny roses for her hair & her flower girl & originally it was fine, but at the last meeting he refused saying they would not hold up. So we found her someone who would do the wreaths & they stayed beautiful all day!!!!! I doubt she would recommend them to anyone. By the way, last night I saw one of the centerpieces taken home from Sat. evening & it was wilting already.

ugh..My hall only gives you the option to use Stephans or Spitz and Peck and I have heard similar negative things about both....Someone had to have had a positive experience with one of them, ( no??

I am using Stefan''s and so far my experience has been wonderful. They have spent a lot of time discussing with me what I would like. Showed me around while they were making arrangements. I went to my hall when they were setting up for an affair. abosolutely lovely flowers. And I was sent a personalized detailed list of everything they would do. This list included specific flowers we discussed. Good luck! What hall are you using? Do they have a preference between the 2?

Wendy, Thanks for the positive reponse. I feel a little better now. I am getting married at Temple Emanuel in Great Neck and they have no preference which one we use just as long as we choose one of them. I will probably look at both and then decide from there. Thanks!

Hi! My FI's brother was married in Temple Emanuel of Great Neck 8/00. They used Stefan's and the flowers were really lovely. Since you are probably going to Cedarhurst to check out Florist's you can also look at Dalsimer (on central ave). If you need any info let me know. My temple only allows Stefans or Dalsimer and we haven't decided yet. Good Luck

LaurenS, I actually heard that Dalsimer florists did really nice work too! Unfortunatey, Temple Emanuel only gives you an option of Spitz and Peck and Stephans. Assuming you were at your fiances brothers wedding at Temple Emanuel, do you (or anyone else who has been there) have any input on the hall (things you liked, did not like etc.) Any input would be great!! I want to be sure to ask for the right things:) Also, where are you having your wedding? Maybe we could chat sometime. Seems like we are looking at similar vendors for our affairs. i think we once spoke about photographers too. I actually wound up booking Salzman and Ashley. Have you booked yours yet??

Hi! Well, since you only have the choice of those 2 florists, I would go with Stefan's. My FI's brother's wedding was great (the sanctuary is so pretty) The only thing I remember that should have been different is in the santuary, the flowers that lined the aisle were blocking a lot of peoples view. So they either need to be lower or higher. We are getting married at The Sephardic Temple in Cedarhurst (11/02). We haven't decided on photographers yet. We are between Pace, Salzman & Jovon. My FI's brother used Salzman and the pictures came out great. They still haven't gotten their album or video, but that had a lot to do with them not picking things in a timely manner.
