florists
I need help. I am going to meet with the florists next week and I have no clue what I want. I always wanted to carry black magic roses and have fishbowls on the tables with roses filled and cut to the top of the bowls (no green). Well I went and got cornflower blue dresses for the girls and I am getting married on the 4th of july so I just cant do the red, white and blue thing...Does anyone have any suggestions for me??? I do love daisies... I feel like I cant go to the florist with no clue! Do I have to go in with the # of tables i am going to have also?

Re: florists
Forget the white and just do red and blue (see second photo for mix). I think that would make a striking contrast without the July 4th kitch. You could do black magic roses and blue hydrandrea or some other combination. This may not be exactly what you are looking for but here are some of the flower ideas I used with my florist:

Re: florists
Do you think it will look bad though that my dress is white and i am holding black magic roses and then the girls dresses are blue? That was what I was worried about.

Re: florists
I don't think that would look bad. Im wearing ivory, carrying red and my bridemaids are wearing black.I would say that if you are going to do all red, then mix your BMs bouquets with red and blue to bring it all together. Does that make sense?

Re: florists
If you need to pay the final balance, then your florist might just ask you to estimate how many tables you are having for your reception. I gave a 'round about' number and need to call and confirm 1 week before.Look through magazines to get ideas. It's ok to not have a good idea of what you want. Bring some photos and bring swatches of the girls dresses. This is what they do for a living so they should be happy to offer you suggestions.

Re: florists
Hey! We have the same wedding day!At first I didn't want to go with the red, white and blue either, but then I picked navy blue for the bridesmaids dresses. I figure - what the heck - might as well get into the holiday! I have a very subtle red, white and blue theme. It's not bam! in your face, but it's definitely there. The bridesmaids will be carrying millenium roses (which are red and white and gorgeous). I think I'm going to have black magic and millenium roses, but that's not definite yet. The centerpieces have a touch of red, white and blue as well.
Enough about me. We gave an estimate for number of tables etc. A good florist will really help you figure out what you want. It doesn't hurt to walk in w/ some ideas, but they should really help you. I went to Designer Florals (they advertise on this website) and Sharon is just the mad scientist of flowers! We really had a great time designing the centerpieces and everything together. She listened to my ideas, but then came up with something more magnificent that anything I could have imagined. If your florist is not helpful (the first one I went to really wasn't), go look at some others.
Good luck!

Re: florists
I had ice blue bm dresses. I have pics on ultimate wedding of my girls bouquets. We had Blue delphiniums, rossin roses, a light pink rose with dark pink trim, purple/blue iris, and some other flowers dont remember. I think a dark blue will look great with the blue you have. Do you have pics of the dress??

Re: Diane
if you go to ultimatewedding.com, my user name is Lady Di...I have a newlywed journal .I carried an arm bouquet of calla lillies, with the same roses as the BM's. There were stephanotis(that was in my dress), and ivy, and some greenery. Each stem was wrapped in white satin ribbon.
The girsl had round bouquets, and my MOH had an arm bouquet to compliment me.

Re: florists
Babeyblu,I'm getting married July 4th too and I just started looking for flowers. I didn't have much of an idea of what I wanted (I know I wanted mostly roses), but most florists were able to come up with something classy and nice.
I've been to 3 florists so far (I have 4 more appointments).
I am not incorporating the '4th of July' theme in the flowers, however I am using it for the favors.
