I know this has probably been asked a million times but did you have an idea of the colors/types of flowers you wanted before you met with florists?
I want to get the rest of the big vendors out of the way over Christmas break. I haven't finalized the color of the BM dresses even though I have an idea, which is making it hard to decide on flowers.
Did any of you go into meetings without a vision of what you wanted? Anyone have quotes to share for
1 Bridal bouquet 6 BM 11 boutonniere 5 corsages
We have a credit to use a particular florist for centerpieces which we may use to save money, but I figure it will be helpful for a range for the other flowers.
Thanks!

Florists
We have appointments with Michelle from hidden essence in bay shore and burtons in Melville (unfortunately starting Sunday they'll be closed until January 2nd for the holidays so I'll have to wait till then if I'm not completely sold on Sunday with hidden essence). We're also gonna take a look at ribbons and roses, a small mom and pop shop in Commack.. So we'll see. Theses are the places that I've seen brides use on here with great results for the lowest prices.
Eta: i don't really have an idea of what I want at all.. I'm kind of dense when it comes to flowers lol. I'd rather leave the creative part up to them. I do know what colors I want and that I want at least half tall centerpieces if we can afford it.

I'm using Elegant Designs by Joy in Islip who was awesome when I met with her since I really had no idea what I wanted. She sat there and made all types of bouquets with different flowers until she had an idea of the style I liked. She was also willing to work with our budget. I really enjoyed meeting with a smaller mom/pop type of florist because I felt like she was able to show me what I wanted instead of me telling her what I wanted (since I didn't really know). I didn't feel that same attention at some of the larger florists we met with.

We're using Flowers by Brian in Mineola...they gave us what we wanted within our budget and it's very reasonable! They also work with you to stay in budget and can change things around for you

Michelle is great to work with! I went in not really knowing what I wanted and she came up with great ideas. Her prices are amazing too.

Re: Florists
I'm using Bella Flowers in Huntington. i really liked Ronnie, one of their floral designers, and he totally saw what I wanted and ran away with it.
Based on all of the comments on this site, I met with Michelle at Hidden Essence. She is really nice, and does great work too. But I was surprised that her quote came in at pretty much exactly what I got from Bella Flowers.
I went to Flowers by Brian as well because one of my colleagues recommended them. Didn't have the best experience there. Kept my mom and I waiting for over 30 min with no explanation (although I kept asking) by the receptionist. Turns out another bride's appointment was going long. I was about to walk out at that point but she was leaving, and I figured we waited that long that we might as well just get a quote. They were the most expensive...by at least $500. But the one thing that they offer that the other two don't is an arrangement for your house or where you are getting ready. Was not worth $500 to me.
Plus...both Michelle and Flower by Brian charged delivery fees, when Bella Flowers didn't. I would definitely recommend you negotiating those away.
