Floritsts... Questions & Venting...
My FH and I are second guessing having his Mother do our flowers. Besides the fact that she would have to travel here the day before and make them in either our house or a hotel, we've realized that she's never on time for anything and don't want her stressing the day before/of the wedding and us worrying if she'll really get them all done along with getting ready and attending all pre-wedding things such as the rehearsal dinner/ hair and makeup/ photos..etc... We're having a friday night wedding so she's all ready having to take off of work and mind you she's also all ready started hand painting all 180 of our favors..
So we looked at Pedistals so far and I didn't know what to expect in terms of what would go on during the appointment but I felt like she was throwing her ideas out and not really asking what I had in mind. Truthfully I walked in with a few ideas, but nothing set in stone in my head really, however, I left liking the company but not the vision she had for our centerpiece and maybe not even my BOK...Is this what most appointments are like for flowers? Is it odd to call back and say 'hey..I was thinking of maybe doing XYZ instead of what we decided on' Will they give a new price over the phone? Should/Would I just have to make a new appointment and sit down with her again? She said she would be able to make a sample for us, but how much can you really change at that point? can you start from scratch again? so confusing...
We are also looking at Flowers by Burton since everyone on here gave him rave reviews, and the house florist at the fox hollow so I'm hoping to go there and be able to chirp in and say more of the I want XYZ what do you think then just listening to ideas that they proceed to write down. I just want to compare the basic things between the companies which is why I want to re talk to the 1st company.
If the next two companies start with the whole..'lets do...' is there a nice way to say 'stop...this is what I'm looking for?' This is the only reason why I liked the Mother doing flowers idea., besides $$, I know I can work with her and we can spend all the time we need coming up with the perfect combo of flowers/colors...
Thanks so much for listening and for any answers you may have.
