Flower appointments (hidden essence & burtons)

Happy Monday ladies!! So fh and I went to two florists this weekend and I learned a lot. FH however learned nothing and asked to stay home next time because he was bored out of his skull lol. So we went to Hidden Essence and Michelle was SOO nice and sweet and she totally got what I was looking for even though I didn't know what I was looking for lol. She also gave us what I think is the best price quote we're gonna get.. She quoted us $2300 for:
18 centerpieces 1/2 high and 1/2 low with white hydrangeas and lavender roses with crystals draped
1 bridal bouquet (all lavender roses)
4 bridesmaids bouquets (all white roses with a few lavender mixed in)
9 bouts
4 corsages
Rose petals on all tables and she'll set up the 144 votives we already have from FHs proposal

Do you ladies think this is a good price? The other florist we saw (ribbons and roses) basically told us there was no way she could do all that for that price or she wouldn't make any money and the lowest she could go was $3K. She's also a regular florist who also does weddings so she's not exclusively weddings. We have an appointment with burtons after the new year because they're closed for the holidays from now until then (***?). Do you think we should keep it and still meet with them or just stick with hidden essence? Do you think we can do better price-wise?

Maybe give Black Dahlia a try? I'm using them because they're included in my all-inclusive package but from what I'm reading from other ladies on this site they're great on price!

Flower appointments (hidden essence & burtons)

We used Burtons and I had 8 less centerpieces than you, but the same bouquets, bouts and everything and it was $800 less than your quote. So, it could be give or take the same (my pumpkin centerpieces were $75 each), but from here to then should you change your mind on the flowers, Burton's doesn't charge for the type of flower, just something to keep in mind.
Hope that helps!

Flower appointments (hidden essence & burtons)

I ended up booking with a florist in Brooklyn but I met with both Hidden Essence & Burtons. Hidden Essence was a little more expensive than Burtons but once I told her I would pay all cash she knocked off the tax and they ended up being the exact price to the dollar. I absolutely loved Michelle. She was so helpful. Burtons is basically all about the numbers. You tell them how many things you need and they give you a price. Based on reviews and what brides say I think they do a good job, but they just weren’t for us. I also met with Black Dahlia but she was a little more expensive than Hidden Essence & Burtons. About $300 more. Out of the 3, Michelle was definitely my favorite.

Flower appointments (hidden essence & burtons)

i had an appointment with burton's this weekend too! i was quoted around $2500 for 18 low centerpieces in regular square vases, flowers on a hopa, a centerpiece on the cards table, 3 bridesmaids, 3 groomsmen, 1 bridal bouquet, mother corsages, father bouts etc. He told me that it was about $125 for the card table centerpiece, and $75 for each regular centerpiece, so i could adjust accordingly. he told me that they close until after the new year, and their prices were going up 10% in january, so i would have to book immediately. i honestly thought the prices would be a little lower - i don't want anything fancy and i have pretty basic flowers.

i have an appointment with showplace florist in freeport on wednesday - we will see how that goes.

Flower appointments (hidden essence & burtons)

That's a great price. I went with Bayport Flower House and worked with Christine. They are excellent there and have great prices. Because they are a greenhouse and have most if not all the flowers already there (depending on the season), Christine was able to do a mock/ sample centerpiece for me on the spot. You should give them a call!

This is what I was afraid of. But my appointement was for Friday and my work schedule got changed and they were booked Saturday and closed Sunday so there was nothing they could do for me to get me in before they closed for vaca, so now I'll be quoted 10% higher. And I don't like that they were pressuring you to book before the new year... what they quoted you now should hold for at least 30 days. They basically wanted you to make a decision in a day because they're closed until the 2nd, which is when prices go up.

ETA: I was quoted $55 for each low centerpiece and $125 for high at Hidden Essense, maybe give Michelle a call =)

Flower appointments (hidden essence & burtons)

Do you have particular flowers in mind? Burton's prices are not affected by flower types. Does hidden essence do that? If hidden essence does, I would go with them. It seems like you clicked with her- follow your gut!

Flower appointments (hidden essence & burtons)

I went with hidden essence because right away I knew that Michelle knew what she was doing. Her price quote was within my budget so I honestly stopped looking at other florists because she always responded quickly to my emails and I loved her personality! Definitely do what you feel is best :)

I think I'm gonna take your advice and just go with my gut. Hidden essence does change pricing based on the type of flower, but I'm not picky about flower type and just want it to look good and trust the person doing it to be creative with it and come up with something beautiful. I don't think we'll do any better price-wise or click better with anyone else. Thank you so much ladies for all your advice!!

Flower appointments (hidden essence & burtons)

I got married in March but I booked with Michelle a little over a year before my wedding. I met with both her and Burton's and she was actually less expensive for me than Burton's. You definitely will not regret going with Michelle. She was everything I wanted and more. I was very non-specific about my ceremony arrangements but she put together something perfect despite my ambiguity! When I walked into the ceremony space I was floored. My bouquets and centerpieces were stunning, exactly what I had in head, she totally bought it to life. She was so responsive throughout the process and not only that but the day of my wedding she took a minute in the middle of setting up to help my dad get his boutonniere on since my parents couldn't figure out how to do it. Everything was on time and perfect. I did the same thing as you, I went with my gut because I felt really comfortable with Michelle and it definitely paid off.

thank you!! i know i kind of felt the same way about the pressure. I've heard nothing but amazing things about button's, so i will think about it and see what happens. I'm sorry your work schedule got changed - maybe you can tell them what happened and see if there is something they can do? i will definitely look into michelle! I have an appointment tomorrow with showplace in freeport, and heard wonderful things about them from my venue :) will keep you all posted!
