Flower-covered monograms for doors? X-post

I posted a few weeks ago about how I wanted to put big flower-covered monograms on the doors of my venue. A couple of you said you wanted to do the same thing, and someone mentioned getting a high quote from a florist for them--it would be a lot of flowers and work, so I guess it's not that ridiculous, just expensive.

Since I didn't want to cut the letters out of foam myself, I looked online. The cheapest I found on Google was nearly $50 a letter. So I looked on eBay, only found small letters, but I contacted one seller and asked if he could make me bigger ones. He wrote back, said he could do 22' letters, told me he'd get back to me with a quote and never did. I emailed him over the weekend again and never heard back. So I found another guy on eBay this weekend who just got back to me and said he could do 24' letters for $25 each, let him know what font. Now, that's more than I wanted to pay, but, choice of font is nice.

Is it worth $50, plus shipping, I assume, for letters on the door? I like the look a lot, and I think will set the tone of the wedding from the moment the guests go through the door. When everyone arrives I could even haved them moved inside for the ceremony or reception. I'd either cover them in silk flowers--which will cost more money--or in Martha Stewart's tissue flowers or with Paper Source's paper flowers over moss. I think the tissue flowers would look best, but might not last if it rains, even though the doors are sheltered. The paper flowers are more work, but I think I'm doing them anyway for the ceremony aisle chairs and for the escort card table. I've got months in which to make them, too. Do you guys think it's worth it?

I think that it would definitely be worth it! Do you have enough time to start on the tissue flowers now? If you do a few flowers each week then you should have enough to cover the letters. I think you were right when you said that it would set the tone for the type of wedding that you want.
