my sister had a baby a few months ago and everyone is assuming she is goign to be the flower girl in my wedding. She will be 13 months, and FH and I are still undecided about having her in it. It would be great if she could be, but infants are so unpredictable. She probably will be teething and cranky adn we dont want crying babies at the church. However, she is my neice and goddaughter so i feel obligated.
I broke the news that she will not be at the reception and my sister and her husband got taken back a little about her not being invited.
What do you girls think abotu having such a young kid as a flower girl? Also, if she is in it would it be too mean not to let her in the limo? Dotn want to have to worry about her gettign sick on people

Re: flower girl
Are you having a program for the ceremony?
I just went to a wedding where the Bride had a brand new niece and nephew, so on the program she wrote honorary flowergirl and honorary ringbearer with their names. And both infants were not at the reception or the ceremony.

Re: flower girl
I think you made the right move! MY FH has a niece that is going to be 2 at the wedding.. and we still think she may be a bit too young.. plus we have a nephew and my goddaughter who will both be 5 at the time of the wedding.. so we think it's just a perfect match.. and w are going with the two of them. We are asking on Christmas.. so im sure it's going to cause some kind of a problem!!!! but you know what... it's really what the BRIDE AND GROOM WANT ISNT it? I just think that if you feel that the child is tooo young to handle it... then it's really not worth putting that pressure on the child and on the parents of the child.
She is invited to the reception..... but we only chose 4 kids that will be invited and no others!!! They are either nieces/nephews/godchildren of ours.
It really is what you and your FH want...... remember that

Re: flower girl
I think you're making the right decision. 13 mos is very young to be a flower girl, and if you're not comfortable with it, you don't need that stress on your wedding day of worrying about it.

Re: flower girl
our FG is going to be 2 the week before the wedding, we arent sure how shell do but the RB is her cousin and both her parents are in the BP....so hopefully she will do fine. She and the RB are the only kids we are inviting, if you think she will make it, put her in, it will depend too if she is walking by then HTH

Re: flower girl
I think you are making a good decision...we also decided on no kids at our wedding.
Our FGs are 4 and I am not having them stay for the reception- I wanted their parents to enjoy their time! So they are coming to our CH only, being introduced, dancing a little bit and then being picked up.
My sister had a baby in July and refused to leave him at home for our reception, but we stood our ground saying that we felt very strongly about not having kids at our reception, that it was our personal preference and she would have to deal with it.
Good luck to you!!

Re: flower girl
We have a big bridal party topped off with 2 junior bridesmaids (9 yrs old); 3 pillow boys (ages 5, 3, and 2); and 3 flower girls (ages 7,7, and 4). Now originally some people told us they were concerned with the 2 year old cause he will just be two and the three year old. But they are my nephews and i cannot get married without having them there. Even if they dont walk down the aisle they will still be wearing tuxes and they are coming to the reception. These are the only kids who are invited. We hired two people (family friends) who we know, to stay in the big bridal suite with movies, activities, strollers, snacks, etc for the kids in case they get cranky. But you never know. My nephew went to a 50th anniversary party when he was 14 months old and did not get cranky at all. In fact he danced on the dance floor the entire night. Kids are unpredictable and you never know how they will act but it is really up to you and FH if you want her there. Have you guys considered having a baby sitter at the reception?

I think thats a cute idea. But i agree 13 months is young for a flower girl

Re: flower girl
I would say that if you do it have her walk with an older girl so that she's okay - or to walk down with mommy or daddy to make her confortable.
We were going to have FH's niece (who will be 5 by the time we get married) and her 1 year old sister walk down together as co-FG's so that the baby would be okay.
Now since FH's SIL doesn't want to bring the baby we're just having her older girl (the 5 year old) be our only FG.
But if you do it I can't see her making it though the reception.. her parents will be miserable... a 13 month old will be cranky so you might not want to do it.
