Flower girl question - too many kids!

Flower girl question - too many kids!

I'm getting married next June, and I'm starting to think about my bridal party.

I'd like to ask my goddaughter, who is also my cousin (age 5) to be my flower girl, but I'm worried that I will hurt my other cousins' feelings by not including them as well. My other cousins are 5 girls (ages 21, 12, 8, 7, 6) and 1 boy (age 10). The 7 year old is my goddaughter's sister.

If I ask my goddaughter to be in the wedding, do I have to ask my other cousins also? I don't want to have a huge parade of kids, since the wedding is going to be really small (only 2 bridesmaids/2 groomsmen, 55 guests).

What do you all think?

Thanks for your help!

I think its fine. Remember: she's not just your cousin, she's also your goddaughter. So if there are any questions, you can always say thats the reason. I'm sure your family will understand.

I think it's fine because she is your god daughter. Will the other children be at the wedding?

Yes, they will all be at the wedding. I thought about coming up with other roles for them, but then I thought it would look silly to have so many people in the wedding party for such a small wedding.

Thanks everyone for your advice!

you can just say you want 1 flower girl and 1 ring bearer and thats it.....
see i had such a dilema with it too- cause i have 6 nieces and newphews and FH has 1 niece so we couldnt choose- so they are ALL in my BP and all under the age of 13!!!!!

i think its fine what youre doing! I also have so many cousins and wanted to include them all but its just not possible. I was thinking of doing other things to include them...maybe have one do a reading at the ceremony, another one help hand out programs, another rose petal cones, another one maybe help collect/protect the cardbox. I think you can find ways to include them or at least make up little gifts for them that will keep the little ones busy during the reception (ie. candy, coloring books..etc)

maybe you ask the smaller ones to do 'a very imortant job' for you and have them hand out programs & bubbles/petals....

I think you drew the line in a fair way, I think that's good.

It's fine, we're doing the same. My flower girl is FH's Goddaughter and she will be the only child invited to the wedding. He has other little cousins, as do I, but she is the only child involved because she is 'special' since she is the Godchild.

Don't worry about hurting feelings, I think people tend to understand in this scenario.

We have a cousin who is perfectly suitable to be a ring bearer yet we are asking a 2nd cousin in Germany who FH has met once instead or not having one because the other little boy is a hyper maniac! We aren't worried about offending it's our wedding and our BP.

I had the same problem. Flower girl is 5 and his goddaughter/niece. His older niece (sister) looked disappointed and so did my cousin - they are 9 and 10. I thought that they were too big to be flower girls and too small to be junior bridesmaids. And then there are nephews - who are 13. It would be bad to put all the girls in the wedding and not the boys. I think you should go with your gut -if you only want the girl, pick her. Otherwise, you will have to put them all in just to accomodate hurt feelings.

I AM however trying to find them all small roles but really haven't gotten to it yet....
