Flower girl suggests.... please help im so confused...

Ok so my flower girls are from ireland. they will be 9 and 10. I have talked to a lot of dress shops here and they said i would be cutting it close to do alterations the week of the wedding. ( i totally understand this). Recently from talking to FMIL i found out that one of FH aunts is a dress maker in ireland. So im like hmm.. why doesnt she make the dresses for the girls since the girls live there and see her all the time at least then i dont have to guess with thier sizes. So she agreed to hand make them. 2 things...
1. FMIL mentions to me on the phone that i will prolly have to pay her for them.. im thinking to my self im not even paying for my BM dresses.. am i supposed to be paying for them?
2. What type of dress should i use. my bm are wearing the Jordon 226 in royal blue with the white top. please hellp me if you can. i am open to all styles. thanks.

I think dresses in europe cost much more than here.... you should price things before agreeing to it.

You could ask them to take measurements and order dresses from RK bridal no frills service, and have them shipped to ireland where they can adjust them prior to coming here.

(I know some UK brides actually order their gowns from RK bridal to save money, so it's a fairly standard thing for them...)

I agree with the above posts... . clothes cost up to 200% more in Ireland than here and formal dress wear is even worse... i would buy a dress or two you like in their approximate size and then ship them to ireland. then their aunt can do the adjustments on them.

OR i would have the aunt buy the fabric and make the dresses if it's something that she wants to do or is able to do... i would inquire about the cost of the fabric and her time before doign that though....

FYI: re: paying for the dress. in ireland, in my epxerience, the bride buys the flowergirl and bridesmaid's dresses... so that is what the flower girls' mother may be expecting... unlike here where the BMs and flower girl's parents pay for their own attire.

it is NOT your responsibility to pay for FG dresses. Their parents should be honored, and should be thrilled to be buying the dress.
A great option is to go to www.rosebudfashions.com.
The dresses are available in locations all over the place (I had mind in seattle and WI) and they are available 2-3 wks from the order date. THey come in a whole bunch of color combos (made to order) and are affordable.
