Flower Girl vs. Jr. Bridesmaid? help?

Hi ladies - need some advice here..
My 1/2 sister is 11 and i want to include her in my wedding. I think she's too old to be a flower girl (esp. in the white dress) so would she be a jr. bridesmaid? If so, does she wear a dress in the same color as the MOH and other BM's?
What is a jr. bm function?
Also, she's from out of town

Also, FH has a cousin who might be in the wedding as well that is the same age. Is it weird to have 2 11 yr. old girls in the party? Do they get escorted down the aisle?

so many questions..
your opinion appreciated..

thanks!

I have a 12 yr old and 13 yr old in my wedding party as jr bridesmaids... They are helping more than the grown up bm's because they are so excited... They will be a great addition to your wedding party!

They are walking down the aisle together. I am 1 gm short so it worked out perfectly

I had my DH nieces in the wedding they were 10 and 12 (twins were 12 years old) So I had three JR. Bridesmades. In my opinion they are to old to be flower girls.

I actually had a strange bridal party LOL.. I had my Nephew who was 2 he was one R.B. and my cousins daughter who was not even 1 yet was my F.G. . My brother held my nephews hand and my cousin held her daughter since she couldn't walk yet. So all 4 walked together. I had the twins walk together and then I had My DH niece walk down with her brother who was our other R.B.

My FI daughter will be 9 at the wedding. Originally he wanted her to be the FG but I pointed out that my neice could do it and besides, it's more grown up to be a jrBM. There are a lot of designers who have jrBM dresses to accompany their BM collection. You have some freedom, they can match the other girls or you can do something a lil different bc of their age. For example, you can't put her in something low cut or with a slit. She can walk down the aisle by herself if she wants, or she can be escorted by a jr. usher. My FI is going to walk her down since we're getting married outside and he can't just 'appear' at the altar.

I aslo wanted to say they wore the same color but not the same dress. I had my girls wear alfred angelo dresses the tops were all different and the bottoms were the same. But the J.R, wore Davids bridal dresses since they were young and the other dress were expensive...

I felt bad for my SIL since
She was my MOH
Her husband was a groomsmen
her 3 daughter were jr bridesmaids
and her son was my r.b.

Re: Flower Girl vs. Jr. Bridesmaid? help?

I am having my niece as a JR bridesmaid b/c she'll be 9 by the time the wedding rolls around. I think she would look silly in a white poofy flower girl dress. I would def make them JR bridesmaids. They could walk down together or walk in one at a time before the FG if you have one. My JR BM is walking in with her little brother who is the ring bearer.
She will hopefully be wearing the same color as the other BMs. She is not going to be wearing the same dress as them. My cousin is also in the wedding and she will have just turned 13 and since she is 5' 2' we decided to put her in the same dress as the BMs. Hope this helps.

My Junior BM was 8 and my flowergirl was 4...

The junior BM's who is DH's niece wanted to be the flowergirl cuz she has done it before but once we told her that we were going to promote her to Junior BM she got excited and felt really grown up. She felt she had an important job to do when we told her that the Junior BM had to show the flowergirl what to do cuz she was new and it would be her first time as fowergirl. It worked out well cuz the two girls knew each other and the flowergirl was saying 'i'm going with haley' until she met the ring boy and followed him around....LOL She was telling everyone on my wedding day that she loved the ringboy and he loved her...LOL LOL LOL it was so funny!!!!!!!!!

I had 2 jr BM and a FG. My Jr BM were 7 & 10 and my FG was 5.

The Jr BM wore different dresses but in the same color as BM.

The FG wore a different dress and color.

Wow - fast answers - you guys are great!
I like the idea of the girls wearing same color dress, but not same style. I agree, they shouldn't be as grown up as the BM's but not as young as the Flowergirl (who i don't actually have)
I think it will work out ok since we will have an extra GM who can escort her or the two of them if i go that route.
Thanks for the suggestions and feedback!

I'm having two FG (wearing white) and one Jr. BM (age 12) wearing the same color as the BM's.

IMO she would be a JR BM
I am having a JR and she will be 13 at the wedding... I am pretty sure she will wear what the BMs are wearing, I just have to try to get something appropriate for her if not she will wear something else... she would basically have the same function as a bm but realistically they cant do everything a bm would do...
