i'm getting married at the fire island lighthouse, and in meeting with florists, i've been trying to come up with ways to prevent the ugly light fixture (see below) from marring my pics, which we splurged on. the lighthouse people said other brides have built an arch off of the light fixture, but the person i'd like to book says it's very costly and can't be moved to the RH in case of rain. i talked to my photographer, and she said she could retouch any ceremony pics for the album to get rid of it, but all of our proofs stand to have this eyesore in the background of our ceremony any thoughts on a remedy?

Re: flower headache
in the first picture i barely notice them....i guess it depends on where you'll be standing for your ceremony. i'm sorry i'm no help.....can you make a tool and silk flower swag that you can drape between 2 of them and stand in the center between the 2 posts?

Re: flower headache
I really dont see them but, why not get the fake garlands of flowers to wrap around them with tulle. This way you wont have to worry if you cant transport it, just have someone do it beofre the ceremony starts. Im getting married at my RH outside but , if it rains of course we will be indoors. So I am not paying for something to be done outside when it may possibly rain so I am getting tulle and flower garlands to use on the gazebo...also to save money. HTH

i talked to the florist about doing a leafy garland up the pole, and she said it's only going to draw attention to it. her 'philosophy' is to draw attention away from it by putting arrangements on the floor. the problem--that's not going to prevent the lightpost from hovering in the background of every single ceremony shot at the wedding. it looks small from afar, but it stands a good bit taller than any person. i may just need to change the orientation of the ceremony from the way the lighthouse is used to setting it up so the light isn't in the frame

Re: flower headache
I dont think they are terrible and from these pics they seem to blend into the trees so they are not that noticeable. Good Luck!
