Please don't all boo me when I ask this question, but I have to know. It seems like everyone loves Flower Michelle because of the unique ideas that John comes up with and how he really gets your vision. My question is, if you know what you want already, wouldn't it just be cheaper to go to your local florist? I haven't started shopping around for florists yet so I really have no idea. Flowers just aren't that big of a deal to me and I really don't want to spend more than $1500.

Re: Flower Michelle Question
The Big Deal with John is that he has a great personality, he is creative and works well with your vision, he also has great ideas to expand and make it all real. In addition John works within your budget.
IMO...I think its best to go with a reputable vendors it takes the second guessing out of your big day and makes life easier.
If you are comfortable in working with your local florist then go for it.

Re: Flower Michelle Question
In your post, you say 'If you know what you want' why not go to your local florist? Well, I knew I wanted, all Calla Lillies, but I had NO idea what kind of centerpieces, what flowers mesh well with the callas, or even if I wanted to have any flowers mixed in with them, and the price range of the different colors and sizes. So John answered all of that for me, and gave me different options as far as design, price range, and availability. He had TONS of pictures to give me an idea, and he also loves callas, so that helped too. Besides, even if you aren't a flower person, and don't intend to spend alot on flowers, with him you don't have to spend a fortune to have the beauty of his very own creativity!

Re: Flower Michelle Question
I have started my florist shopping as yet, but I am going to leave my option open.. Shop around and see what is out there, try your local florsit if you choose. That is the bueaty of shopping around having options.
Do we have any past brides that have used John before, because all these reveiws are from people who has just booked him and saw a sample of his work. Thanks for the help ladies...

Re: Flower Michelle Question
See if your local florist is having an event coming up or is doing an order and then ask to see if, they should not be a problem, even if you just stop by for a few mintues..

Re: Flower Michelle Question
well imo the local florist can be just as pricey ....when they hear wedding they automatically jack up the price........if you tell john thats what you want to spend he can tell you what you can get for that price........did you also consider doing non floral centerpieces? good luck!

Re: Flower Michelle Question
Laura I am totally with you on this one...we both know our dining room needs little enhancement considering the dramatic GSB views. I'm certainly not saying that all the other dining rooms in other catering halls aren't fabulous but of course I am partial to mine
Personally, I am on a budget and as much as I like flowers I am cutting back on them and substituting them with candles. I am going to certainly have some flowers and bo-k's but not anything my local florist can't handle for under $1500 (my local florist has actually done events for my family so I am comfortable with his work). BUT I will say I have seen FM work and they are outstanding. I am sure the brides that have booked them will be more than please. If flowers meant a lot to me I might be looking into using them too.

Re: Flower Michelle Question
I shopped Flower Michele and met with John and did not have this amazing experience that everyone raves about. I felt John was not organized and sloppy. Maybe I met him on a bad day but I did not get the warm fuzzy feeling other people get from him. I believe in making decisions that I feel comfortable with. I did not think that Flower MIchele was the florist for me and I booked someone else. We are all under enough pressure planning a wedding and spending crazy amounts of money and we should be happy with all the decisions we make.

Re: Flower Michelle Question
I'm going to my local florist, because what i want is simple, and like you flowers are not the most important thing to me right now. Also he's right next to the church=0)

Re: Flower Michelle Question
IMO, John was amazing and completely made me feel at ease. He truly took my ideas and brought them to another level. He listens to what you have to say and works with what you want. Besides him being one of the most down to earth people I have ever met, I truly 200% have no worries that the flowers at my wedding are going to be incredible.
It might not be for everyone and yes, you don't have to feel that you have to use someone because others are, but IMO he is worth going to see and let your mind be made up then.
Good Luck

Re: Flower Michelle Question
I will be booking with Flower Michele next week and yes, John made me feel totally at ease. And most important, he made my FH feel totally at ease which is very difficult to do! PLus, I saw a centerpiece at an expo that both FH and I fell in love with and it was created by Flower Michele so we felt most comfortable with them creating it for our wedding day. I also felt that John is not only creative himself and he visions these beautiful pieces, but he pulls the creativity out of you also. Just by talking with him, all these ideas came to mind that I did not have to begin with. Other florists I met with, i did not get this same feeling.
I totally understand how you feel though. I too felt maybe I should look at a local florist because I thought they may be cheaper. In the end, I did not so I can't tell you if they would be cheaper or not, but the reason I did not look at a local florist is because they don't concentrate on weddings. To me, I felt a wedding vendor would have full concentration on you and won't have to worry about taking care of the local flower orders or walk-ins as well. This is JMO, though. I could be wrong and if you feel most comfortable going to your local florst I say go for it! It's you day!
