So I just got the price of flowers. I picked all flowers that will be in season and a very small amount of roses , just a couple in the boquets. The center pieces I picked from a book that stands high twists up and has flowers on the top where 200 a piece. Does that sound right? For a grand total of 5,963 Does this sound excessive? I have not checked around b/c supposely this florist is a family friend.

Re: flower pricing in shock!
Roses aren't expensive flowers. They're so common now that they're not expensive. High centerpieces can be quite expensive, as they are a lot of work and I'm sure they're expensive to transport. Still, that sounds very high to me. It's complicated with the florist being a family friend, but I think you should talk to a few other florists. You might find out that your family friend isn't so much of a 'friend' after all. The only pro florists I dealt with (I'm doing most of my own flowers) are the small local florist doing corsages and flower girl halos for me, and Burton's. Burton's had very reasonable prices, I didn't go with them because they were booked on my date and couldn't deliver. Talk to them and see what they have to say.

Re: flower pricing in shock!
I'm actually using white/cream roses and callalillies (a few) in my center pieces. Although roses are not as expensive as some flowers, my centerpieces are a little over 200 a piece. Quantity is also a factor. I have very high centerpieces with 6 dozen roses in each piece. I'm also have crystal accents added to my pieces (chains). Therefore, even though I'm using roses, they are still expensive for each piece. Try going to Burtons-I know they are usually cheaper. I'm using pedestals because Burtons would have been more for me (I would have had to rent each candelabra because they did not have the ones I wanted) otherwise I would have used Burtons.

roses are very inexpensive unless, like the above bride mentioned, you using 6dozen per CP. your quote sounds insanely high. check out flower michele. john will work to your budget and make it happen.

Re: flower pricing in shock!
Large tall center pieces usually cost about 175.00-275.00 per piece, it is a lot of money, I know, But we went with it and are within the price range above, our centerpieces are amazing, I just love them. But there are so many choices, keep looking around until you find something you love.

That's a bit much! My total is $1500. My CP is in album, I have 10 of those, and I have 4 BM boks, 1 MOH, my bok, 2 mother's corsages, 1 gdma corsage, 8 bouttoniers...They'll also set up the garden w/ tulle and pillars! You should shop around some more...

Re: flower pricing in shock!
I was at a showcase where thay had tall centerpieces and the price was no more than 175 and I think it was lower than that. Your estimate does sound very high. I have not gone flower shopping cause FH can get the flowers and we just need florist for arrangements. But I've been checking the boards so I have an idea when he gives me his price if it's reasonable. FH has florist picked out too so I just hope the price will be ok. This florist btw is Murphy & Co who is supposed to be one of the best designers on LI. FH says he is really nice guy and fair so you might want to see his stylings too.
Anyway, if you read some reviews here I saw that Burton's can give you very good prices but in some cases they are More money so check others too. Designs by Rose ( I think in Queens) has had alot of good things said about them so maybe check ther too.
That's VERY high. What kind of flowers are you using? As a pp mentioned, roses are actually the cheapest flower to use. I'm having high cp's with all roses, and am paying $110 each. Definitely talk to Flower Michele!
