Flower Question

Flower Question

I'm so clueless about flowers!!

I really want hydrangeas at my wedding...I've always loved them, and my Grandma had a hydrangea bush when I was younger.

I was thinking of basically using exclusively hydrangeas for the cps and possibly the girls bo-ks

Are they expensive? Am I setting myself up for disappointment?

Thanks!

Re: Flower Question

Why not try asking the florists you go to look at...Worst case if you find them to be too pricey for you, the florist can probably reccomend a look alike flowers that is a bit cheaper...

hydrangeas are gorgeous but i think delicate too. they might wilt a litlle bit faster than other flowers. if your wedding is going to be in the summer, you might want to ask the florist if they will be able to last the day in the heat.

I don't think they are expensive... whenever I go to florists they are dying for me to use hydrangeas in my CP's along with roses. I could be wrong though. I have heard that they are very delicate, which may be a problem for your July wedding.

Re: Flower Question

if they are, you should look into using Burtons. They're flowers are priced by volume (how much you order) as oppose to if its in season or not

I've heard that too, which is why I'm on the fence about using them in the BM boks...they should be fine for CPs, though, right?

they will look great in the cps!! we are doing hydrangeas in our cps as well (along with other flowers) and also have hydrangeas on the chairs down the aisle for our ceremony

Do you mind FMing me your quote? I'm trying to just get a general idea. I originally budgeted $1500 for my flowers, but I'm thinking that might be unrealistic

Yes, I would think so. They'll be in an air conditioned RH all night, not facing the elements.

Hey there
I asked that very question to a florist who said to me that the hydrangeas people grow in the garden are cheap but hydrangea florists use for weddings are expensive.

I am doing a lot of hydrangea, calla lillies, and orchids at my wedding and it is pricey!

Hydrangeas are one of my favorites too and one of the few flowers that comes in my color of blue. Unfortunately they won't last more than a n hour cut and out of water and no reputable florist will use them in your Bo-K. ( I tried) They are also not in season anymore when I am getting married, keep in mind they are in season for a very few short weeks. But if you are getting married when they are in season, then I would definitely do them in the centerpiece!

Beautiful.... but I agree. They wilt fast and the white can brown fast. Try a small sample of Antique hydrangea, not a delicate, really pretty... even dries beautiful.
