Flowerfield was a top choice for me too, but getting married in May means $$$ -- and we have a big guest list.

I ended up with East Wind -- really love the comfortable feel, and the price was fair. Good offerings.

All the way out in Wading River -- near Riverhead.

They do more than one wedding at a time -- also not appealing to me at first. But the weddings truly are kept apart. Even different entrances.

I'm in the Estate, which is actually its own building entirely.

I have similar #'s and location constraints (south shore nassau county for the church with most guests from Queens or Nassau county).

flowerfields rates for fall 2010 were lower for Friday nights & saturday afternoons, also sunday twilights. (I just recently got quotes, I think with guarantees of 225 or 250, don't have them with me). Frankly, you might get a better deal for fall dates if you let the clock tick a little longer before you book. I'm on a six month plan and finding some decent price breaks (when I can actually line up the church & reception hall).

One thing to remember is that November 19th is AFTER the clocks fall back an hour. We considered November 20, 2010 at flowerfields and realized that sunset was at 4:37pm, which is before you can access the grounds at flowerfields (unless you pay extra), and probably the same at most any other evening reception hall. That means your photos will likely be before the church if you want outside shots (which I was opposed to).

Nassau County Options (we were anti the standard reception hall scene):

Wildwood

North Ritz Club

Carlyle ($$$$)

Woodmere Country Club (also on the pricey side but I hear a fabulous affair)

The place that use to be Spratts on the Water in Island Park (not my scene, but I hear they do a nice job)

Good luck.

East Wind is beautiful!! My friend got married at the estate in 2008. She was totally separate.....no one around. Definitely did not see another bride or wedding at all.
