So we went last night to check out the dresses that FH's evil aunt bought for her daughters (2 of my flower girls) hoping that they would match the dress that I had made for my cousin (also a flowergirl). I walked in hoping for the best but expecting the worst. She showed us the dresses, and the color was off not very off, but off, the fabric was completely wrong but the style was right. Overall, it was passable and in the interest of peace, I decided it would be okay. There was only one problem, the fact that the dress had toole on it. FH said 'okay, its not so bad, all you need to do is take the toole off'. To this she replied (and I quote), 'NO. I am not doing anything to the dress, this is the way it is and if you don't like it, then the girls will not walk down the aisle'. FH and I both said okay and we picked up our coats to leave. I turned to her and said 'Don't think for one second that you are bringing those kids to my wedding in those dresses so they look like they are in my bridal party. I don't care what you do with the dresses but they cannot wear them to my wedding' and we left.
We told FH's mother what happened and she called the aunt. We told her not to bother because at this point, we don't even want the girls in the wedding. FH's mother said no, she wants them in and a fight began. FH got so angry he acutally called his aunt and told her ' Do me a favor, don't come to my ****ing wedding' and hung up on her.
I am sorry to hear about this drama - I really just don't understand someone who a) puts conditions on you (the bride) and b) who uses her daughters like this
It sounds like you need to think about those little girls...and remember what your wedding day is supposed to be about (love, unity, etc. etc.). If you asked two children to be flower girls, then they must mean something in your lives. They are not blame for someone elses behavior, and they are never going to forget that you were too worried about tulle to include them in your day. I can only imagine how hurt they are, and what a mess you are making of family relations. I can tell you without a doubt that at the end of this one day, hugs from those little girls and there smiling faces are going to mean a lot more than a little tulle in your pictures. It's your day, but you're an adult and you invited those kids...think about how you're acting-for the sake of those girls, your sanity and the sanity of everyone around you.
I don't mean to be a jerk, but it sounds like you need to think about those little girls...and get a grip. If you asked them to be flower girls, then they must mean something in your lives. Those little girls are not going to forget that you were too worried about the tulle on a dress to include them in your day. As a bride myself, I can tell you that at the end of the day, hugs from those little girls and there smiling faces are going to mean a lot more than a little tulle. Besides, it's your day, but you invited little participants...don't punish them for another adult's behavior.
I agree with the above post. Do you feel different towards your 1st flower girl - is she on your side of the family then the other 2 flower girls being that they are on his side of the family? It also sounds like they were on their own choosing the flower girl dresses so things like this will happen. Did you not have any say in how you want the flower girl dresses from the beginning? You should feel regret that your not going to have these two flower girls. Their still family spoiled or not.
I don't know who you are or what you hope to accomplish but why don't you mind your own fu**ing business? I can't even tell you how tired I am of the the crap that goes on around here. Why would somebody be so bored that they would search through old posts and bring up things that are sore spots just to **** somebody off?
Ron, can you find out who these losers are please?
