Flowers

Flowers

So, I'm absolutely DREADING going to the florist. I don't know anything about flowers, what they're called, what's in season when, NOTHING. I don't know what's reasonable for a price, so I wouldn't even know if I was getting ripped off. I guess I could research a little, but I don't care about flowers even a little bit. Is that bad?! lol. Do I just show them a picture of what I want for a bouquet and be like, here make me this. I have no idea where to start.

I was totally the same way. I'm using Flowers By Brian because my good friend used them for her wedding last September and the flowers looked beautiful and she told me they were very reasonable. I just trusted her judgement.
Flowers are also, like, 29th on my list of important things, and I have no idea about whats in season, etc. I knew I wanted a wintery feel - AKA branches, candles, shimmer. And, I wanted a simple bouquet with only deep red roses - no add-ons (like greenery, rhinestones).
I went in - said my budget is $2500 - this is what I think I want - and what can you do. The rest I put in their capable hands

I was the same way but for the opposite reason. I love flowers and was so afraid of what is was going to cost. Burton's charged us 2000 and that's for 12 centerpieces, the whole bridal party, corsages and boutineers(sp?) for the parents and grandparents and my bouquet of course. We also chose pretty large centerpieces so I'm sure smaller ones would be less!

I'm nervous about this too. I'm not familiar with flowers and when I went in the fall, I had no idea what my colors for the wedding were gonna be but I did come in with some pictures. Knowing the color/theme and bringing some pictures is really all you will need, as well as your budget of course, and they should do most of the work. I am going back after Valentine's Day myself to talk to them! Good luck!

I knew virtually nothing about flowers, although I did have an idea of what I wanted to spend on them. I knew I loved hydrangea because they are such a cape cod flower ... so I went in with that and a few pinterest ideas, and the florist explained everything to me, helped me choose what was in season, as well as some less-pricey alternatives. they will help, they're the professionals! just know how much you want to spend.

I booked black dahlia right on the spot, I thought their prices were great, and I really liked Sonja.

good luck!

Agreed! We're booked with Black Dahlia too. I knew nothing and left so excited. They sat and chatted with us, we looked at pictures and our vision was formed! The prices are so great too.

we used one of the prefered vendors from our RH and I was so dreading the appt. All i knew what SORT of the name of the flower i liked. LUCKILY the woman, Joanne, that we met with was really a pro and knew how to help me get to where i needed to be. She talked about the look of the wedding and actually created things for us as we were talking about what we liked or didn't like. We left feeling relieved and since then I've been able to think more about what i do and dont like and have some ideas about what i'd like to change. Good luck!

I was really scared with flowers too! I know nothing about them but I was upfront with my florist and she was so helpful and have me cheaper options. I was surprised how little I ended up spending on flowers.

I had no clue about the names and the seasons and all that stuff when I went to Hidden Essence. Michelle was so awesome! I can’t stress enough how patient she was with us because we were all over the place. I think she spent with us more than 2.5 hours, worked with our budget, and had such a nice attitude. We are changing centerpieces as I liked other ones she just did recently and she is very accommodating – she and her team will go to 4 places to give/set up flowers…. Love her!

Thank you girls so much for your input! I feel less crazy for not caring about flowers now. I'll wait until I'm settled on a color scheme before going so I seem less of a mess to the florist! LOL!

Def come prepared with photos and a budget, so the florist has an idea what you'd like, and can work with you on price. I was dreading searching for a florist since what I wanted seemed like it'd be a stretch for me, but I gathered pics and composed a budget, and they were willing to work with me. It also helps to go to one and then set up maybe 1 or 2 florist appts so you can comparatively price them all. Good luck!

I was the same way. I honestly didn't care about flowers at all - I'm using the CPs provided by our hall. When I went, I told them what I was willing to spend on flowers and what I needed and they came up with arrangements to fit our budget. I have NO clue what type of flowers we chose the only flowers I love are cherry blossoms and other than roses I don't know any types.
