Re: Flowers by Brian?

Annie-

I went to him expecting that I would not like him. However, he was really great. He seems to give preferential treatment to Oheka brides (i.e., we only work with him, he took me before a half dozen people who were already waiting, etc.). He was a little nuts, but I got a good feeling from him. He also talked me out of these really expensive arrangements I wanted saying that I 'was crazy to want them...they were a waste of money.' I thought that was pretty professional considering other florists were all for it.

I ultimately decided that I did not like the strange tree sample he made for me (not because it wasn't want I asked for but instead because it was just too weird for a wedding), but I am going to continue working with him until I find what I want. Including the chuppah (but without any personal flowers), he quoted me about $8,000.

I have heard some people on these boards say negative things, but I just did not have that experience.

I liked him as well. What I found refreshing was that he was the only florist I have met with that did not inflate the price just because of the location of the wedding. I really liked another florist but was appalled when I realized that other brides were paying half of what I was quoted for the EXACT same thing.

we went to see him but he was busy and we met with a woman there (blanking on her name right now!) - whilie we liked the flowers, they were almost double the price we wound up getting everywhere else...and they were a house vendor for us too...we wound up at jack and rose where not only was it cheaper but we get our choice of flowers!

I had the same experience with I think the same florist. I also did not get the impression that Brian inflated the price.

oh my god 8,000 is expensive. we went with jack and rose and are getting 2 dozen pedestal roses on each table, bm bouquets, miniture bouquets for moms, corsages for all the men in the party, parents and ring boy. flowers for our table, rose pedals to throw at the church, flowers on eacht table floating in water for cocktail hour and decorationg card table and cake table. we are having 250 people so 20 tables of flowers. we were quoted at 3,000. i think you should go to a second florist i think that 8,000 is alot for flowers.

I also met with Brian. An although I loved his work I found him to be way overpriced. I wound up going with Jack and Rose whos work is equally amazing and I am saving over a thousand dollars. I think you should shop around first before you book. $8,000 is crazy....you could be spending that money towards other things.

Re: Flowers by Brian?

i agree with you i shopped around i found brian to be too high for me and that was who jericho terrace recommended. jack took over 3 hours out to talk to us and see what our needs were and now we are going back for 2 design sessions he will create our centerpieces so we can make sure we like them. he is very flexible and only does one bride per day too.

$8000 is a lot, but I did not even tell you what I was getting. I was originally quoted $20,000 by another florist.

OUR FAMILY FOUND HIM VERY NON PROFESSIONAL. A FEW CURSE WORDS WERE ALL IT TOOK FOR US TO SAY NO THANKS!

Girls...i was looking for comments on the quality of his work etc. I have to be honest...i met with three other florists...two of which are used by several of you on these boards and they quoted me a HIGHER price for MUCH LESS flowers. It really angers me that some florists will automatically add to the price just because they think you can 'afford it.'

I could see how the cursing would be a turn-off for some people. But it made me laugh. He actually said, 'These garden roses are f-ing huge...their going to explode all over your chuppah.' I thought it was funny.

Re: Flowers by Brian?

did you try jack and rose as one of the three vendors? i would suggest giving him a try several girls are using him and from jennbaby pics you can see the awesome job they did. if your willing to pay the 8,000 then go for it but i know from my experiences with vendors and all the good stuff that goes into a wedding it adds up quickly.

We went to Brian for a quote and he was very rushed. We met with him for about 15 minutes and he gave us a reasonable quote but we really didn't connect with him at all. What was neat though is that we got to see his back room and people working on arrangements for the weekend. We also watched him meet with a bride. Apaprently he invites all brides to come in the day before to look at the Bo-K to see if it is what they like. I thought this was really neat.

We looked at his place and did not like the woman we met with. Although his prices were comparable to the two other florists we were considering- Pedestals, which is almost next door and Florissima. Brian's flowers looked nice but found that the people at Pedestals were alot nicer to us so we went with them.
