Flowers by Brian

I AM GOING WITH FLOWERS BY BRIAN I HAVE BEEN 2 3 WEDDING 1 BEING MY SISTERS AND THEY USED THEM THE FLOWERS WERE OUT OF THIS WORLD --I KNOW WITH MY SISTERS WE WENT TO SEE THEY THE NIGHT BEFORE SO IF THERE WOULD OF BEEN A PROBLEM WE COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING THEN IF YOU CALL THEM ASK FOR BOBBIE

The same exact thing happend to me at Windows on the Lake!!!! We were planning long distance so we gave them a small deposit to hold the date while we made sure we wanted to book with them. We called back a week later to book. Gave them a much larger deposit and set an appointment to sign the contracts. We went in July signed the contract and started lining up our other vendors thought that package deal windows had. When we called to ask them a question they said that they were glad we called because they double booked our date and we were out of luck. They were extremely rude to us both Frank the manager and even the owner. We even had a hard time getting our deposit back because they said we cancelled rather than picking another date with them if you could believe that. I would definately stay away from them and tell anyone who asks the same thing. I'm so sorry that it happened to you also. We ended up going to book at the Swan Club the next day and have been extremely happy with our choice. I have heard other horror stories about the poor service and attitudes of people who have already had their weddings there so you are better off going somewhere else where these types of mistakes don't happen all the time. Good Luck

NOT A LOTTA MULA

Jen, it all depends upon the type of wedding you want to have....know going in that most reception hall, photographers, DJs, etc. will give you a discount per head if you book between November and March. September is a very popular month and you should expect to pay a premium for all of your services. We were married this past March and chose March for that very reason. At the end of the day, we saved several thousand dollars because of off- season discounts.

I made my invitations (used postcards for responses and saved lots on postage), programs, limited our bridal party to 2 people (BM & MoH) to save on expenses for flowers, limos, rehearsal dinners, gifts....The more people in your bridal party, the more expenses you'll have. In the end, we had a Saturday night wedding in March for 85 people and spent about $15,000.(not inc. honeymoon) Our reception was at the Carriage House @ Milleridge and we had the 2 star menu. We used Cassarino for photo, DEsigner Limos for, well, limos, Fine Time Entertainment for DJ and my florist was Greepoint Florist (in Brooklyn). My dress wasn't a major expense either - a Mon Cheri. And my video was a gift from Dad and is not included in those figures.

That being said, if you're NOT willing to switch the date to a less expensive month, you can contact the Milleridge RESTAURANT. The Rest is run independantly from the BAnquet office and their rates are significantly reduced. My friend just contacted them for a July 00 wedding for about the same amount of people. For an afternoon, I think the rate was approx $45 a head. She is also having the reception on site.

Hi Jen;

If you can work with a site closer to Queens, you might want to look at Leonards of Great Neck. We were surprised at the price - we expected to pay more.

NOT A LOTTA MULA- huntington house

Stacey,

We almost had our weddings together - same day and almost the same hall! We were originally going to go with Huntington Townhouse, but after having some problems decided to go with Chateau La Mer. What have you done so far? Need any recommendations?

I also liked that he had a willing to work with you attitude and was open and unoffended by suggestions. One thing I will say, is I had hoped for more canded shots at the reception. I knew that he seemed to speacilize in portraits, but was hoping for more anyway. In his defense, I did NOT overly stress this point to him.

You're right, I think Jessica meant that you get it for $30-40 less per head not a $30-40 per head price. Dont forget to include the taxes & gratuities (another 17% - ouch!)

Hey Rachel, Angela was my post, I am at work. Forgot to change the name. OOPS!

Basically they were trying to snow us and when my parents came in to go over the contract, they were really rude to them. Then, I couldn't get them on the phone to get my $25 save the date deposit back from them (took me 6 months)

But of course. The girl who normally cuts my hair is awesome. She lives in Lindenhurst but will come to you the day of. Give her a buzz and tell I sent you. 631-226-0432.Her name is Karen

We already booked our video with JoVon and it is $1800 for digital, but I have no idea who is doing it. I think it was only that price because we used them for photography. I guess I should do some checking up.

Nothing too horrible.

When we first walked in, there was a "greeter" who was wearing stretch pants and a fluorescent sweatshirt with an attitude. (It was on a Saturday at around 11 a.m. - first impressions and all that).

Then we heard rumors that they were going bankrupt (just a rumor, but numerous people were saying that they had heard the same thing - as well as the person at the Townhouse didn't deny it).
