Flowers by Burton vs. Colonial Florist
I have an appointment with both of them on Saturday. Can anyone tell em about either. Is anyone using either. What kind of prices did you get for which flowers? How many? Who did you deal with? Any info would be great...

Flowers by Burton vs. Colonial Florist
I am using Flowers by Burtons. I have never been to Colonial Florist. I can tell you that I worked with Mike at Burton's. He was super easy to talk to, listened to what I was looking for and gave me a great price. Burton's charges by the item, not per flower type. So for instance, many florists charge you if you want 5 roses, 3 lillies in your bouquet. Burton's just charges a flat rate per item and then you can pick any flowers that you want. That was a plus for me. I know that I want hand-tied bouquets but not sure on each flower type yet. Another florist I meet with needed me to make a lot of decisions so she could give me a price.

Flowers by Burton vs. Colonial Florist
I do not have any experience with Burton's, other than what Michele31 has already posted. However, both of my cousins used Colonial for their weddings. I know that Claudio is super reasonable regarding his prices - but it helps if you know someone, or you went to him on a referral. I don't know the specifics of how much my cousins paid for their flowers, but I will say that their bouquets and centerpieces were very full and very beautiful, and the flowers were fresh and open upon delivery. My advice is to make sure you are direct about what you want (with both florists) and see who you like better. Make a follow-up appointment for them to show you a sample centerpiece or bouquet. Like Michele31 said, it is better that the florist charge per item, not per flower type. My florist (Voegler's in Merrick) did the same thing, and it really makes a huge difference in prices. Hope this helps (a little)...good luck!

I used Colonial for my October wedding...
Everything was beautiful and reasonable!! I worked w/ Irene since Claudio was in Italy when I went. The only thing I was disappointed with was the fact that the *burgundy* roses were more red than burgundy, although they were very nice. We saw a sample centerpiece before we booked (they take a picture and keep the sample in the cooler to replicate). And we also got to see our flowers the night before the wedding!! We got: My bouquet - 3 doz white roses w/ stephanotis 2 MOH, 2 Jr BM bouquets - mostly roses (the MOH's were larger) Flower girl halo, basket (I provided the basket and they made her a *bouquet*), and a bag of rose petals 9 corsages - all roses, (1 orchid) 9 bouts - all roses 11 Centerpieces - low, FULL of fall flowers, including roses - lasted more than 2 weeks!! They also decorated my cake with roses which was gorgeous!! I wanted a fresh flower topper... The total was around $1100 which included everything!! I never did check out Burton's since I was very happy w/ what Colonial offered. Good luck! :)

Thanks - I would love that. I was planning on checking out Burton's, which I still will, but it's nice to have other options. They sound very reasonable - and I live in Long Beach, so they are closer to me! Thanks again!
