I'm using him for my wedding. He has good ideas, and he does work within the budget. I just went for my final meeting with him and saw the CP. I wanted some things changed in it and he had no problem with it at all. I was afraid of insulting him. I'm also having all low CP's, and he did not try to push high ones which I liked about him. He also is very honest about what is going to look good and what's not, and I like that. Sometimes you go in thinking, ok, I want this and this and that, but you don't think about things like will the flowers survive the day, or will these linens look good with the decor of the room. He's honest enough to tell you the truth and suggest alternatives.
I also liked that he is there to do the set up.
we were going to do the linens, but ended up opting out to put the money somewhere else. Since I've been at the shop a few times, I've seen numerous displays there, and one is more beautiful than the next. HTH

ETA: This is how I worked out the budget to give him to work with. I searched on here for what everyone else was paying or quoted and for what, figured out what the highs and lows were of each item, figured a low average, and added everything up for what I was anticipating needing, and gave him that number.
