FLOWERS FLOWERS FLOWERS!

Ok so flowers are SUPER important to me. I have this whole romantic vision in my head and I am totally nervous that someone will eff up my flowers. This is like the one vendor I am so nervous to book. This weekend I have two appointments and another one on tuesday.

Were there any certain questions you guys asked when you met with your florist? Or things you made sure you specified in your contract? Or any other things you think I should ask? I seriously have so many things writting down/ideas and I am trying to compile everything.

I swear these florists are going to think I am insane when they meet with me

A lot of the questions we asked were....

How long have you been making wedding arrangements?
What style do you specialize in?
Ask to see a portfolio
Are they familiar with ceremony/reception location?
How much do they charge for their service, flat rate or per item fee?
What is the cost of each item?
Can the florist provide an aisle runner, candles, candlesticks/holder, etc?
Can they work with your budget?
How far in advance will they make the bouquet and centerpiece?
Will the florist make a sample for me to see?
When will the flowers be delivered? Is there a delivery fee?
What time will the florist return to pick up any rentals?
Will they make a toss bouquets? Is there a fee for that?
How many weddings do they do a day/weekend?
Can they recommend seasonal flowers to help me save money?
Do they have creative and original ideas?
How much is the required deposit?
When is the balance due? How can I pay?
When do I need to give them a final table count?

I feel the same way. Make sure to bring pictures of your vision, make sure when you see the sample centerpiece (once you decide on the florist and they show you the sample) you take a picture of it! including any details you want like crystals, pedals on the table, etc. because these tend to be the things that get forgotten.

Make sure that they known what flowers are in season for your wedding, because some florists will charge you more if you request, for example, poenies in the middle of winter. So they may quote you a price, and then when you decide on specifics, the price will change. I heard Flowers by B*rton does not do this, and you get charged a flat rate regardless of the flower.

Also make sure you include them in on details such as what you want the bouquets wrapped in, if you want corsages or mini bouquets for MOB and FMIL, etc.

HTH!

Ps I am giving all this advice and haven't even gone myself.

This!! How many weddings they do is very important! Pictures are important too, just so they know your vision. Also if there is an specific flower you want that will cost extra, make sure they put it down on the contract. Make sure you can see the samples at least 1-2 months before the wedding. FH is very visual so we always asked to see their set-up of how they prepare the flowers etc, and that will give you an idea of how organized they are. Also mention you have a coupon but forgot it at home..this def worked for me, to lower the price!

I haven't booked mine yet, but I have started looking... I would just say make sure everything is detailed in the contract, find out what their back up plan is if some flowers cannot be found day of. Make sure the type/style of the arrangements is written down, or even better a picture attached to the contract. Make sure the flowers you want are listed, and then day of designate someone in charge of signing off on the delivery, making sure they are as requested. lol call me paranoid but you want to make sure its all in the contract, especially since flowers are so important to you.

Also ask them how many delivery vans they use.

You don't want them doing 4 weddings a day and only have one van.

I just did flowers this weekend. I didn't ask a ton of questions, most of the people we met with were very informative. I chose the florist who answered all the questions I didn't even know I had!
