flowers from a supermarket

Has anyone ever used a supermarket florist?

I know this might seem insane but flowers for the day I can't see spending $1000 + for I might eventually bite the bulllet .

But, I know stop & shop I think it is has a wedding special for flowers for like $350 or something you get the basics which i think is all i really need.

Out here in California alot of girls do that and the flowers look like they came out of a high end shop just wondering about longisland?

what do you all think?

I've seen great flowers in some midwest and west coast supermarkets, but not in NY. Why not do alternate decorations (i.e. candle centerpieces) and smaller florist made boquets?

My mother used to be a florist. There is no way that I could ask her to make all the flowers for the ceremony and reception and all the personal flowers, but I have asked her to make the personal flowers for the wedding and she has gladly agreed. She has mentioned that she has seen gorgeous flowers at Fairway and, if I don't care where they come from, would probably wind up getting my flowers from there, depending on what they are going to have in season. I have absolutely no problems with using flowers from a supermarket or other place because the costs will be lower and I know that my mother would never skimp on the quality of the flowers AND it will save me a lot of money. I don't think there's anything wrong with it whatsoever, but make sure that you see their work beforehand and get everything in writing!

Hi,
I work at stop and shop and the guy from the floral keeps telling me to let him do my flowers for the wedding and he would give me an awesome price. I too am a little afraid of doing my flowers from a supermarket. I know they will look nice but I'm worried about them not lasting. A girl at work went to a wedding that had our flowers and I wanted to talk to her to see if they held up. That's my biggest worry.

I am not doing my flowers there, but I got the roses for my e-party that I presented to BP & Moms at Stop & Shop in W. babylon, and it cost me like $9 for 6 individually wrapped, and I have 6 more (that I put in a vase). They were gorgeous pinks and whites and they lasted so long afterwards, and opened to perfect looking roses. The guy who worked there was so nice and did a nice job. Can't beat that bargain!!!!

maria, that's right will they last? Please ask your friend for me.

Jan, I didn't know about fairway i will check into them to.

I don't want silk but i do want nice flowers and a deal. I have been to so many weddings where the flowers get disgarded 5 minutes after you renter the reception. so 1500-2000 for a few pics and hours seems to much

has anyone ever used them for a wedding? or an alternative ?

I purchased approx 10 dozen, long stemmed, HUGE BEAUTIFUL roses and 3 or 4 gallons of rose petals from the flower district in Manhattan. I did not spend more than $150. I would definately suggest going there!

fairway in plainview has 2 dozen long stem roses for 10.99 why dont you get them from there they have every color and the roses really last when i get them they last a week to a week in a half. get a bunch and test out before the wedding.
